An old girlfriend, that's a current girlfriend . . . . with my new girlfriend . . . . My FJ, that I got brand new in '86, is still in the garage with the Tenere. My now R6 kid is on her in both pics. The other kid is the FJR kid.

I spent a lot of time in the Red Mountain-Ridgecrest area chasing jack rabbits. Sand washes, hills, gullies, rocks etc. could be found there. AWESOME riding country and an occasional night show from the bombing range for the evening entertainment

you did have to watch out for abandoned mines and you learned NEVER to run over a bush OUCH!

I suspect they have now closed off that part of the Mojave from riding

Learned REALLY fast to not run over a bush. Nature's severe speed bump. Who'd have thunk it?

Alot have come and go..... The ones I've been attached to Ive seemed to hold onto....

BUT there was one.... One year only color combo and it was love at 1st sight in Sportrider magazine. Still miss this one to this day... Bought new in 92 after just getting the ins check from wrecking my ZX6R. Went through a couple bike clubs, rode all through my wild 20s, met my wife of almost 30 yrs now on it and sold it 12 years later for the "all new" R1.... No the R1 isn't around (never clicked with that bike), but the love for my 93 ZX7 still is.

Yep. Rode out there alot in the 80s. Still remember one of my riding friends going down one of those mineshaft holes. Lucky to only get a pretty badly busted right leg.

Absolutely loved the valve rocker setup on those gens! Such an ingenious idea and made valve adjustments a breeze (aside of pulling all the stuff over the valve cover first)....

Back in the late 60s, they had some pretty wild events in the desert. I remember seeing a hundred or more bikes in a long starting line, then somewhere over the horizon someone lit a tire bonfire to mark the finish and the air was next filled with sound and dirt as the bikes all took off at once. Let the games begin!

Missed the 60s, but started out there in 70s and still out there to this day. The early days, I heard of the craziness out there!

So Cal desert racing was so bitchen 70 thru 90s. Such great times and a few nights of blazing vw cases for campfires.... Those days are long gone unfortunately.. Love watching On Any Sunday to take a look back at how this place used to be...
