I have fitted a Givi bash plate to my 2018 ZE. Because of the proximity of the oil filter to the front part of the bash plate, I somehow ended up with a couple of these filters, as they seem to have been recommended hereabouts.
There's one on the bike and this in the photo is the second.
My concern is this: I'm planning as soon as we can, my wife and I to ride East across the 'Stans and am worried that I might not be able to find one this short when in the back of beyond, so my questions are:
1. should I cut a hole in the front of the bash plate to accommodate a regular sized filter in case I have to change filter where only regular sized ones are available?
2. is this shorter filter compromising filtration due to its diminutive size anyway?
I do change oil and filter 5000 miles or less anyway, or at least once a year.
