Would like to know if anybody has a 2013 super tenere and know where the obd2 port is? I know the newer ones are up front by the tool kit but I don't seem to have one in that area.

Hmm.
I don't think any of them have a ODB2 port, But to they all have a "Yamaha" plug under the seat.
And I remember that someone postet that for a 2014- onwards, a converter plug is possible.

It's a 4 pinned white plug at the front by the tool kit. I just wanted to know if the 2013 has it as I can't find mine

Early Super10s were Euro 3 compliant, with an inbuilt self diagnostic system, which works well IMHO.

Euro 4 came along for 2017-2020, which introduced an OBD1 port to hook up for diagnostics.......... https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/2016/january/mcn-plus---emissions-impossible-what-euro-4-really-means/

This year sees the end of Euro 4 bike sales across the EU, so from 2021 our bikes will have to be Euro 5 compliant, which will include an OBD 2 diagnostic port. This all relates to emissions of course, but more importantly, the drive to ensure regs are observed throughout the life of the bike, which is precisely why decat measures are now being outlawed in many jurisdictions.

Whether manufacturers will get a little extra breathing space to clear non-compliant inventory, in the light of Covid-19, has yet to be seen. Whatever, many familiar & seemingly current new models are set to disappear from showrooms in short order.

Ok next question, how do you switch the engine management light off if it does not have obd2 fitted

Welcome to the forum. Please take a moment to add your location to your profile. It gives context to your posts and helps others give you better answers when you have questions. The bikes are slightly different in some cases, between EU, Canada, US & CA bikes.

Are you referring to the check engine light on the dash? Have you identified the reasons for it? Typically you go in to Diagnostic mode and then check the codes, identify them, then apply corrective action and clear the codes from the Diagnostic mode before exiting. In some cases, a battery disconnect is useful.

If you search the forum for Diagnostic Mode you will find directions on how to get into it and check/clear codes. READ ME

There's two plugs by the tool kit for optional accessories; the 4-pin white is for the heated grip kit while the 3-pin is for the fog lamp kit. I would say most of the members here have used the 3-pin to power an aux fuse block for accessories, since one line is constant hot, fused at 20amps, one is switched hot (for triggering a relay) and the other is ground.

Gen 1 bikes do have a plug under the seat, but as I recall it is for the ABS brake system. EricV gave you the best info for checking your bike, short of taking it to a dealer.

It's ok, I figured out how to switch them off. It's done through the speedo and my bike is ok now.

Thread resurrection!
Is there, in fact a diagnostic plug that can accommodate an OBDII adapter, if so where is it? An app called Drive Mode Dashboard 2 has capability to display engine management info on an android device and I really would like to make use of this feature.
TIA
I've been trying to figure this out too (for the same reason). I bought one of the ebay 4-pin to ODB2 adapters and tried it with a couple of scanners on my '17 and so far no joy. As best I've been able to figure we're out of luck...

The FJR guys identified a working OBD adapter cable but found that only certain brands/models of code readers would work with it. I don't think they found any of the wireless ones that connect to your phone would work but that may have changed. I would bet the same cable/code reader combo would work for the Super Tenere too. I think only the '17 and newer use the OBD process '16 and older have built in diagnostics via the instrument panel.

If you were unlucky that it worked, most likely the 4-pin to 16-pin adapter cable was not the one indicated for Yamaha or for the S10 .... I bought a cable (for S10), connected it to a wifi interface with My cell phone and it worked perfectly with an app .... the problem in your case must be the "configuration" of the pinouts. that it has four pins on one side and 16 on the other, does not mean that all adapter cables on the market are the same ... each manufacturer adapts their obd2 output to their convenience ... they just have to respect the + and the -
The adapter cable will turn on the interface (because they have to respect the + and -, but the distribution of the other 2 cables (in the other 14 pins is specific for each motorcycle / manufacturer / need

Well that's promising news. Mine claimed it was specifically for the S10, but it was ebay so who knows. Do you have a link for the one you have? Or better yet are you able to determine which pins are used? Mine is using power (16), ground (4+5 connected), CAN High (6) and CAN Low (14).

I bought it in my country. Passing the link would not make sense. I'm far from home now, on Saturday I can test the continuity of the cables to see the distribution (it comes heat sealed), so I will have to do it for continuity ..... but two question: you say that your motorcycle is 2017. Are you sure that is manufactured in 2017? .... did you try to enter the diag mode using the buttons on the dashboard? ..... if it is manufactured in 2015-16 .... the 4-pin plug is not for diagnosis.

Good thought, the vin decodes as a 2017, but I don't know how to determine actual manufacture date. It will enter a diag mode if hold down both buttons when turning it on, does that mean I'm out of luck?
