If you ride at night, you need these lights. I am not kidding when I say I thought they would set the air on fire when running at full-intensity. They are bright, and combine a spot /driving light and fog light beams in one unit. They are amazing. Period.

Just for comparison, the Denali D2's put out a claimed 860 lumens. The Squadron lights put out 3600 lumens each....
That's a fact; these lights throw some serious light! Further, I wouldn't have thought so without seeing it first but they are pretty effective in fog as well. Just tried that out this morning. Some clip-on style, yellow tinted lenses would improve that even more and round-out the kit nicely.

If so inclined, you can buy yellow lenses for these lights directly from Baja Designs for $6

I'm looking for the style that clip over the top of the clear lenses rather breaking the seal each time you change them out.
Thanks for the info though.

It looks like there is enough room to use 3M Dual Lock. I have the headlight protector from Cee Bailey's and it uses the Dual Lock. Works great..
Easy on and off. All you would need is the yellow plastic.

I have had a couple of PM's on how I actually mounted the PIAA switch that I used.

First I did try just using velcro to hold the PIAA switch to the clutch handlebar clamp but did not like the less-than-fully-secure feeling so.....

I simply used a piece of 1.5" steel angle, .125" thick and trimmed it to the profile of the PIAA switch. I cut off most of the other side of the angle, trimmed it to fit under the clutch master cylinder handlebar pinch bolt and drilled a 1/4" hole. I ended up mounting this bracket under the bottom of the handlebar clamp as I could not find a suitable spacer in my junk box that would allow me to mount the bracket from the top without marring the top of the clamp with the bracket. This required a longer allen head screw (6mm x 45mm) that was fully threaded. I also found that my handlebar clamp was not tapped all the way thru so I ended up having to tap the last 1/4" of the clamp. Secured it all with a 6mm stainless nylock nut.

Good idea; looks good. The clutch, mirror, ram ball, Piaa switch mount is definitely not under utilized at this point. :)

Bringing the old post back up...

With regards to the high beam trigger, I see you refer to it as a "yellow wire". I also see the dimmer module uses a yellow wire for this.

Can you help pinpoint which wire on the bike it is? Is it the yellow wire in the connector bundle under the right side cover at the very top?

Yep, thats the one.

Take a look at pics #4 & 5 on the 2nd post in this thread. It shows the correct yellow wire. It changes to 'pink' after the connector for some unknown reason.

I'm a function over form sort. If it ends up looking good, great. But I will not compromise just for looks. I'll leave that for the BMW crowd (and alot of their Touratech bling).

If you're talking about how the lights look, Heyder, a photo doesn't do them justice. They look great to the naked eye.

I definitely need accessory lights and these look like they throw a ton. How plug n play are they?

Not really plug & play. But not to hard either. Just look at my first couple of posts in this thread, as this would probably be the most complex install.

Haha! They come with a very well-built harness...that is designed for the lights to only come on -and this is at full blast as well- when the high beams are on. The dimmer just gets thrown into the box as an afterthought with it's own little drawing and no connectors, so you end-up cobbling something together for your own purposes. Many ways to skin a cat, but Steve's is well-illustrated and pretty simple.

To be honest though, the only part that comes close to plug and play is where the lights plug into a Y-connector. People with electical or electronics backgrounds will tell you it's no big deal (me included), but if you don't work with that sort of thing often, the install won't exactly be easy. I ended-up chucking the relay as well as some of the wiring because it becomes redundant and is a waste of space if you have the dimmer unit. Others used all of the parts but wired a switch to the relay instead of tapping into the high beam wire and used the dimmer to power the whole thing...and of course wired the dimmer bypass circuit to the hi beams. Using all of the supplied parts really takes-up space though.
