With the MICHELIN Anakee Wild tire, Michelin will introduce an off-road version of the new Anakee 3 tire that is highly stylized in terms of both design and performance. Already certified by BMW, this radial tire targets riders who love to take their bikes out on the trail.
Available July

Re: Michelin Anakee 3 Wild

Thank you Michelin.

Ok, so 2 candidates soon to be available to take their shots at knocking the K60 off my back rim.
And I'm rooting for them both to do it.

My requirements are simple:

1 Knobby architecture. (aggressive off-road tread pattern without the K60 center strip)
2 Honest 4000 mile life span
3 Less than $250 at my door

Excited to see this Michelin! Both meet requirement #1!

Michelin Anakee 3 Wild

I just ordered tires today. May have held it off a little longer had I seen this, and were it not for the two holes in my rear tire. Now I'll have to wait for my Anakee 2 rear and TKC front to wear out. Those Anakees look very promising.

I know the feeling. Just mounted new tires a few days ago. Couldn't wait any longer. Life's timetable.

Re: Michelin Anakee 3 Wild

Always been an Anakee fan. Just killed off my second K60 this weekend and Jaxon tells me the new one went on the truck tonight. Should be able to kill that one by July/August. May have to try a set of Anakee Wilds.

Re: Michelin Anakee 3 Wild

These new tires look great ! About a year ago or so I thought that Kenda Big Block where going to give the K60 a run until we quickly got reports of replacing the rear after 1500 miles... Ive heard great reports about that tire but no miles.. If any of these new ones can give customers 5-15K on the rear and 10-20K miles on the front.... DING-DING-DING.... they will have a winner.....

I just pulled my first K60 rear off with just over 12K on it... My front has another 8-10K miles left in it, easy....

I don't understand why the tire in the pic can't have another 4-5 mm taller blocks, especially given how large the blocks are in terms of surface area against the carcass. Seems to me the tire manufacturers deliberately keep the tread blocks shorter than they ought to be so the lifespan is as short as they can get away with.

The longer the block the more they squim on the pavement. Kobbys do not wear well and round off on pavement

That's why I have the K60's. However, the center strip that keeps the K60 from wearing too fast, also makes the tire kind of suck in the mud. I really liked the K60's on my KLR, but they have a different tread pattern without the center strip. I might have to bite the bullet and switch to a more blocky tire when these wear out.

Re: Michelin Anakee 3 Wild

There's a set of waiting regular Anakee3 tires in my garage, where they are near the worn K60s on the bike, and the grooving keeps catching my eye.

(Photo off the web, not mine.)

While the Wild version is going to clearly be better off road, the number and depth of the grooves in the regular A3s are more than you'd first think, plus the angle of the non-power wall of the groove was designed to make it self-cleaning. The reports from folks who already have them are encouraging for the typical rider, who spends most miles on pavement, but still likes to do gravel and occasional dirt.

Maybe I didn't understand what I read in that article, but I don't think they were talking about the "Wild" for most of it. The one thing I did see was that the "Wild" will replace the T63. I'll be sad to see that tire go. For the money, I haven't found a better tire then the T63 on my DR650. I'll have to buy a few fronts before they are gone for good.

this tire may fit your crieteria for the most part.
4000 miles out of a rear tire, on our bikes might be a big ask. The weight and power will make sure of that. Im guessing wear would be similar to a TKC, but then again I never ran them.
$250 at the door, michelin is not a cheap tire, or I maybe getting ripped off locally.
i did get a set of mitas dakar to my door in canada for $290, which is a bargain for us canucks.
