sorry to rain on the 1500mile parade, but I only managed 1500km out of my rear kenda big block on my vstrom 1000. Garbage
I'm saving my Big Block for one mission only. I'm gonna mount it with the sole intention of breaking your record. :)
I'm waiting for the right circumstances, of course. It would be cheating to run it on street only.

By the way, do you recall your dirt\tar %'s for that 1500k? :)

I wish you the best. You may actually get a bit more out of it with the help of TC on the tenere.
I wasn't being hard on the tire on the street, but off road, it transformed the large beast, very fun.
The ratio if I remember correctly was about 75 % street, 25% off road.
it was simply as a trial, and the tire was cheap.

There's a set of waiting regular Anakee3 tires in my garage, where they are near the worn K60s on the bike, and the grooving keeps catching my eye.

While the Wild version is going to clearly be better off road, the number and depth of the grooves in the regular A3s are more than you'd first think, plus the angle of the non-power wall of the groove was designed to make it self-cleaning. The reports from folks who already have them are encouraging for the typical rider, who spends most miles on pavement, but still likes to do gravel and occasional dirt.
It may be just me but these don't look like they will have much side bite in the wet??? I know how tires are and you never know until you try them. They may be the max grip tire in the wet but doesn't look that way to me by the pattern. :-\ They do look like they would be a long life tire if they hit the compound right.

Re: Michelin Anakee 3 Wild

Been doing a bit of research and, unfortunately, it seems that the Anakee Wild will only be available in teh new R1200GS size. I have no doubt that they will come out with other bike sizes but the original release will be tfor the new R1200GS. Not even close to what we use size wise.

Anakee WILD is what I said, NOT Anakee III. Just want to be sure we are clear. The Anakee III has our sizing right now.

Anyone have better info? My Karoo 2 are about done and I am looking for a tire for my possible trip to Washington state in August for dirt, dirt, dirt.

Phil, thought the GS has same tire sizing as Tenere, STrom, STelvio, X-Tourer in Europe and the new Ktm Adventure.

Re: Michelin Anakee 3 Wild

Wet grip on the pavement has everything to do with water evacuation out of the tread area and coumpound and horzizontal/angled grooves, of which this tire has plenty, are better. Any grooving circumferentially around the tire would be a negative for wet grip. Bike tires because of their shape are generally, even with no tread, than car tires and getting water out of the tread area and not hydroplaning.

Re: Michelin Anakee 3 Wild

Would a 170 rear fit on our S10's (dark side discussion)?

I'm not sure I would do it. But I've heard of individuals going up or down one size in the tire department. (i.e. 140 versus a 150)

Not a chance. An increase of 20mm in cross section width will rub for sure on our bike.

Re: Michelin Anakee 3 Wild

I figured that may be the case. I once put a 190 on the rear of my Triumph instead of a 180, and it worked fine. But that is only 10mm versus 20mm. I may go home and do a quick measurement to see how much room we do have.

What possible need or use could you have to run a larger tire?

With the MICHELIN Anakee Wild tire, Michelin will introduce an off-road version of the new Anakee 3 tire that is highly stylized in terms of both design and performance. Already certified by BMW, this radial tire targets riders who love to take their bikes out on the trail.

I've wanted to put a 160 on the Super T from day one.

Left side has plenty of room.
Right side has an issue with the bracket leading to the brake.

Anybody building a new piece?
Response to old post warning. Old School - I've made several of these in the past for FJRs. Hit the hardware store and buy a piece of 3/16" thick steel or Stainless steel that's 3/4" wide and as long as you need. If the store offers services, have them cut it down to match the length of the oem part. Purchase some shorter bolts as you will be mounting the new flat bar on the outside of the oem tabs on the swing arm and caliper. Either re-use the Yamaha nuts or purchase new ones, (nylock style). You will need to round off the ends of the new bar for clearance and drill three new holes in the same places as on the OEM bar. One of the holes is smaller for the plastic retaining clip, the bolt holes are the same size.

The new steel part will be far stronger than it needs to be. If you don't use stainless steel, give it a coat of paint to keep it from rusting.

@ Robert K - I guess you're late to the party. Not sure the Wild ever made it to the States. The bit below was from a UK tire retailer site.

The Michelin Anakee Wild is an On and Off Road tyre offering riders:

An off-road version of the popular Anakee III
Ideal for riders who like to take their bikes on the trails
Designed for 50% on and 50% off-road use
This tyre was discontinued in 2015.

Somebody try them and tell us what "extraordinary longevity" means in real world use.

Awful expensive for a tire I'd probably burn through in less than 2K miles.

I call BS on this claim:

An off-road version of the popular Anakee III

If they said Anakee II I'd believe it, but the III being popular...really? I was massively underwhelmed by that tire. Hard to believe they get a lot of repeat customers on that one.

Agreed. Although I got something like 16-17,000 miles out of the A3 I hated the tire. We and ADV both have a number of threads about it's shortcomings.
