Recently tried the MA3 off-road, clay light gravel, and was quick to turn around. I have ridden them on Nevada gravel roads while aired down, 28F 32R, and they worked 7 of 10. Agree that the MA3 is good on dry and wet asphalt. I am one of the riders having wear issues with the front tire. Just returned from a 1,787 mile trip of 99% asphalt and the front tire is... slightly curved 1" wear section in the middle... slightly curved 1" wear section on the right side... and an almost flat 1" wear section on the left side. This wear pattern can be felt through low and cruising speeds. Makes twisties a bit uncomfortable.

So what's the consensus on H versus V rating for longer life, if there is one??? $36 difference where I am...

Had Anakee 3 front and rear mounted 600 km ago. Have had no issues except that the front does wine. Tire pressures set at 33 and 41 and have had the dealer check front bearing's, dealer reported no front end problems found. Any suggestions or are others experiencing the same? Note replaced original Tourance EP at 1400 km with about 1000 k left. Rear squared off and scalloped (may have been overloaded on extended trip), front worn to the right and sounded as if it were rubbing on corners, but no rubbing marks found.

Just had a set installed last weekend and mine makes the same sound. Louder than I expected given the smooth profile.

I think they are loud since the tread goes perpendicular to the direction of travel.

My front still doesn't feel "right". I need to get a chance to pull the wheel and check balance. I'm also going to check spoke tension and runout since I whack a serious rock a few weeks back.

Blew my rear Anakee 3 at 13,000kms today. Only 100kms from home on a gravel road... Pulled out my trusty plugs and pump only to find the cords coming through in 2 places and a rip that was too big to repair. Rode it flat for 50kms and then phoned a pal to come and trailer me home. He had a better idea. He had a used Anakee 2 to bring out and we did a roadside tire change. New 3 going on soon.

13K is a lot, at least for the conditions where I ride. That's about how long the original BW502/502s lasted for me.

All in all it doesn't sound like a keeper this one.
I've put up approx 5000mls on my MA2 and they look great. I don't think I am gonna take chances with MA3.

MA3s were the only tire available at this time for me, but I've read enough positive reviews that I don't mind giving them a shot. I wouldn't let Red Cat's flat scare you off, riding a 13,000km tire on gravel is not the best idea.... ::025::

Anakee 2 were great but 3s last 2-3000kms longer. Never got much over 10,000km with 2s. I am very hard on tires. Constantly roosting on about 30% gravel. So if you like 2s, and I did, you'll like 3s better.

I've got about 2500 miles on my A3s and I'd say they are my favorite 90/10 tire yet. Aside from the previously mentioned whine, I think they are perfect for their intended design. Mine are wearing very well edge to edge, (33/41 PSI) the rear is really nice and round, and has tons of tread left. They are great in the dry, great in the wet, great on gravel. Mud...? Terrible, but realistically you need a knobby for mud. Two thumbs up! If they can make them silent I would give them a 10/10 but I give them a 9/10.

Spot on, Scud.
I really dont mind the whine from the tire, after all the 4x4's & pickups Ive had down through the years. The little extra noise just serves to remind that I'm on a 2 wheeled Jeep.

9000 mile update.

MA3 front still has that 1" strip but all is wearing down nicely. Great whine on lean in like others have mentioned. Still have a reasonable amount of tread left; maybe another 5K miles. Wears quicker than the K60 but is much more confident in the wet and on tarmac in general. Will slip out when there is gravel/pebbles on the pavement though. Fairly OK off pavement but it is NOT a K60.

MA2 rear is a known commodity. Maybe 2000 miles left. Not at the wear bars yet anyways. It is flattening out nicely although not car tire flat like the K60 rear.

Have riden all the little nubbins down and no strips on the rear.

Oh, with 25,000 miles on the bike I think my shock is going. The rear will jump unstable on occasion, mainly when leaning in hard when the shock really compresses. I should mention that this was on an SS1000 ride/Big Sky Rally when the bike never really rested.

I don't notice noise from the MA3 but previously I was running K60's.

Re: Michelin Anakee 3, reporting in.

This is at 4k miles on the tire now. The wear gauge is showing a hair under 6mm , that's from the middle of the groove. (Just plain groovy, eh?) ::013::
Im guessing it is reasonable wear at this point.
Am fairly well impressed with the overall capability of this tire. Not a lot of noise from the thing and more bite in the soft stuff then I would have thought.
Still going to get a Kenda BB to have for the ruff stuff, but for a long distance tire, the A3 will be my go-to.

Wish I could help ya there Ac, but Im guilty of being a tire mixer like Snakebit.
I am running a Kenda BB up front now and had a street tread up front before, compliments of the previous owner. Something just had to be done about that.
The 'odd couple' dont seem to mind each other as far as manners go. Way better behaved off the tarmack with Kenda up front, just have to keep my brain in T mode for the highway corners now. Im currently negotiating with Tabasco-man to fix the mix. Will have a full set of both A3's & BB's in due time so I can switch out as the need be.

Same here. And it wore uneven more than once. I have a 400 mile set of Battle Wings I am going to install and wear out this winter before finding something else. It won't be MA3's at lest not the front tire.

Same here. 2-up with a full load of panniers and my front is nearly to the wear bars at 4K miles. Rear probably has a little more than 1K to go. Nearly all of that was pavement.

I ran them hard and liked them. Nice even wear at 33/42, good in the wet, handled the twisties with confidence with a full load.

I'd buy another set but with the type of riding I've been doing lately, I might do PR3's this time...
