I agree. I don't think reliability is ever taken into account to a large extent. It's just what they think is the favorite on the week / day. Most of these bikes don't do huge mileage anyway. They are usually just taken out on nice days for a couple of hundred miles and then stashed. That's just going off some survey I read about the average yearly mileage of bikes in the US of A.ST-venture said:Since MCN accepts no paid advertising, I would guess more like a personal bias. Well they don't sell advertising, but they do accept free use of new bikes from the manufacturer. Do you think they would getST-venture said:Since MCN accepts no paid advertising, I would guess more like a personal bias. Or they just ignore the recall.
It is one thing to give a bad review and quite another to give the bike tourer of the year.S_Palmer said:Well they don't sell advertising, but they do accept free use of new bikes from the manufacturer. Do you think they would get
Another test bike if they gave a bad review?
And, yes, I do think they'd get another bike if they gave it a bad review. The RT wouldn't have been my choice, especially not in light of the shock-ing recall. But the fact the MCN guys liked it best doesn't mean they're evil or corrupt or on the take. They just like the RT best.ST-venture said:It is one thing to give a bad review and quite another to give the bike tourer of the year.

I disagree with lots of magazine articles; surely not all those writers are taking bribes. (Who would actually get the bribe? the writer? the magazine owner? the editor? all of the above?)
Hey Donb,DonB said:Big,
Yes I had one. Bought it in early spring and got caught in the shock issue. Long story short it was/is a great bike when it works. BMW bought mine back as it was unrideable ALL summer. I was VERY pissed and BMWNA sucked during the process.
Now here's the kicker...... it cost double what I bought my hold-over 12 S10. And the S10 is a surprisingly good package within certain limits.
I could write a book about the 2 but am very satisfied with the S10.
