This week I lust for a RED FJ-09, just don't know if I can make room for it in the garage!
Going to change username to Big Red? As an Iowan I would not appreciate the University of Nebraska name!

You don't get a vote on my user name BigBob! ::025::

I will to give some thought to a vanity plate for the FJ. I've got BIG BLU, on the blue GSA, was on the blue ST.
RED LITE is on my gray R1200R, was on a red Guzzi 1200 Sport, maybe on a FJ-09 next!
EATN PIE is on the bike I keep in Europe.
The Vespa's plated as WASP 1, Vespa means wasp in Italian. ::024::

Oh well, just another one of lifes little challenges, I figure it out when the time comes... :-\

Ahhhh, the good old days!
I had a new 1996 R1100RT in Glacier Green, put over 80K miles on in in 5 years and never had an issue.
Hey just like me! Well not exactly. I had a 1996 K1100LT. So different model. It had problems (slipping clutch, and the ABS was AWFUL) . It was ex-police and painted white when I got it, it was so annoying having all the traffic slowing down around me that I had to get it painted. The color I chose was Glacier Green, so I can say we both had 1996 BMW's in Glacier Green. Cool! :D

Some of the early BMW linked and servo brake technology sure left a lot to be desired. sometimes I would rather have just had a boat anchor to drop! :'(

Exactly. Often, you DO get what you pay for.

Therefore, it only takes $'s and desire to turn whatever you got into whatever you want it to be.
Purchase price can simply be the starting point.

This WAS a CB500X. Certainly an example of getting what you pay for.

Bike reviews are reviews about "starting points", if you really think about it. They can be rendered meaningless, by anybody!

The nice folks at Rally Raid have things in the works to turn the stock 500X into a honest "all roads" machine. Not as rad as the one in your picture but a honest effort to turn a very good stocker into a nice scratcher. I'm watching that effort closely.
