That's great. I talked with him about 7 months ago and he was just waiting for a bike. I like the looks of it.
Thanks for the info.

This might be just what I need. Running the tall oem screen and it's blasting me at 6' 4". ::012::

Is it just me, or does anyone else think these windscreen adjusters (Wasp's, Touratech's and now Madstad's) are "asking for trouble" (don't want to get unnecessarily graphic) in the event of a crash of the type where you hit something and are thrown forward? They are all kinda large elaborate metal structures, with some sharp-ish edges pointing directly at your face/chest/gut...

No, it's not just you. One of my friends on one of the other MC forums (he owns two V-Stroms) brings this concern up every time someone mentions Madstad. I've had the Madstad bracket on two of my V-Stroms and presently have the Wasp version on my SuperT. I am of the opinion there are a lot more (and worse) hazards out there to worry about.

The stock windscreen brackets appear to resemble two metal spears which could possibly gore you........ that's if you get past the shards of windscreen plastic as it shatters and cleaves open your chest and neck in a collision. There's an inherent risk to riding a motorcycle (or any motor vehicle, a bicycle or even walking down your basement stairs, for that matter).

Sorry about being graphic. I watch Ilia Kuryakyn (remember Man from U.N.C.L.E ?) cleave open a body on NCIS once in a while and nothing bothers me any more. ???

Your best defense is to pay attention and learn to make sensible decisions when you ride. No one or nothing can protect you from all hazards (including yourself). If that were possible, riding would lose it's appeal.

Honda makes an airbag Goldwing, if this sort of risk is unacceptable. I guess that would protect your face, but the rest of your body would probably be ground off on the asphalt.

I have a feeling you tend to over-think such things.

You're probably right, but you have to admit they are all pretty large structures. But yes you'd have to be unlucky to be hurt by them.

As for the stock windscreen, I'm pretty sure it will just pop off if hit hard enough. The screen's only held on by those 4 rubber bungs. After that you're only left with the two plastic mounts. They might hurt but unlikely to cut. I'd be happier if these things were held on in a similar fashion. I don't know but have a feeling they are solidly mounted.

As long as my face is protected, I'm happy. Gotta leave a good looking corpse! ::008::

Wow, that is a way back reference, but a Good One!

I just emailed them for more info on the bracket. Also, asked if it interferes with mounting the side wind deflectors.

I don't see a problem with those at all. They will fold away and the mounts/bolts will break. And they are not sharp enough to penetrate through even cheap riding gear. Of more concern is hitting the tree, rocks, car, etc., that puts you into such a situation.

You can suck the fun right out of doing stuff, worrying about things that are unlikely to happen if you ride "heads up".

I'll give you another one to fret about......

Never leave your car window partially up (like 4-5 inches). If you get hit in the side and your head comes down on it, it'll act like a cleaver.

I can't wait to get my hands on this - I'm still using the stock windscreen and am getting hammered with turbulence at highway speeds. When riding any interstate at all I try to remember earplugs, but the low frequency buffeting seems to go right through anyway. Hopefully it won't be too expensive.

Going to see Mark today, hope to report some positive findings in the near future. May have to replace the entire shield along with the brackets but I am hoping not to. Should be able to fit in a rain test as well. I have a helmet that will not allow for the visors to remain open secondary to turbulence. Hoping to eliminate that air flow.

Just returned back from the fitting. I've got to tell you that this bracket eliminates all the turbulence at speed. I can ride with my visor up and it stays up on all my helmets. The bracket alone produces a nice calm quiet pocket, and with his windshield it was a little better. I kept my shield on since I like the style of it. Mark said that the bracket would be ready soon, but for now, I am using the orange flavored bracket. I am testing it hard next week and will report any news that I find.

Can we somehow evaluate this one against the Australian one ??

The color goes well with the blue bike. R

Send one to me and I will evaluate against my Wasp bracket.

Rod why don't we take some measurements in the high position and see what it does?

I 'll try tonight

I think it's more than measurements. I'm on a trip down in Texas, so hard for me to get any meaningful measurements anyway.

Oh I did not know you weren't back yet. Well measurements is about all I could think of, like degrees of tilt, resting position in high/low. I am told that there is a sweet spot according to the manufacturers. These are stainless powder coated.
