The problem with them was that at high speeds, they got squirrely. The Camaros were much better suit for speed.

Yes, mine definitely is.
Would start to lift the front end and get light in the steering at 110mph (ish… a guess as the speedo only goes to 85…)
A super weak T5 and a 7.5” diff (3.27 gears) made the weight a bit lighter but couldn’t up the power too much. Also, with the offset of the wheels, couldn’t go much bigger than 225 without extending outside the guards.
I’m going to look for a T5 from a 6-cylinder Holden Commodore (GM) as they were stronger than most of the T5’s shipped behind V8 models in the USA.
The IRS is going to make the centre of gravity that much better when I manage to get it in there.

The Caprice was fast, per say, but had a heck of a body roll in turns. I really liked the late 70's, early 80's Chevy Malibu's, we had a stiffer suspension on them, and they were probably one of the best cornering of all that I drove over the years.

When I first got on, we still had a couple of Plymouth Fury's, want to talk about an ocean liner.

Fox bodies are sick. Buddy of mine built one into a full on semi pro drift rig. Full cage. A tad heavy in the wrong places. Better for drag racing.

State troopers of various states had these. Super cool rigs.
When the CHP had them, they were not allowed to use them for regular street patrol, only if they were assigned on the highways. Like the LTD, those Mustangs were a bit tail light, and that tail would break loose for any reason. I have been in them as a passenger, and as a driver, and have done some 360's through intersections/turns chasing someone.

Now I'm thinking about a coyote 5.0 10speed body on frame modern interceptor package. Older cops wet dream prob. They call everything after them coffins. At least you had a chance in the spacious and very lightly armored crown of surviving an ambush and getting out without extra holes. (Key is getting tf out of the car when you take fire)

This was my LAPD Detective Crown Vic Intercepter SAP package.

Regret selling it but, it was just too perfect. Sold it to a PHX PD officer for off duty work. I gave her my love and blessings. Saved from the auctions and put back into use. Interior was so plush and cozy. Made me want to fall asleep going 90 on the highway.

CVPI may have been gutless but it was such a great car to cruise in. a few careers ago I sold Lincoln/Mercury and the car that turned the most heads in the service lane was an old timer’s low-mileage pristine Marauder. Was a sad day when Mercury died as a brand.

fun fact, after the CV/Grand Marquis/Marauder died, the Lincoln Towncar was the fastest production car in reverse because it used CVPI reverse gear. It would do something crazy like 65mph in reverse!

The 4.6 SOHC was the gutless one. Ford actually bragged that it made the same amount of HP that the old 302cid did; 225HP o_O The 4.6 DOHC was the one to get. It was what was in some of the Cobra Mustangs, Mk VIIIs, and Marauder.

I would have thought that, while chasing someone, stopping to do donuts in the middle of an intersection wouldn't have been a great use of time?
(Sorry... I couldn't leave that one alone considering the recent 'thing' of mustang owners being the ones to leave a car park, attempt a burnout, and promptly crash )

Those aren't "Harley" brakes.
Being a long time big hp crotchrocket guy (still am and also own a ZH2 and B-King) both of my HDs have been built as canyon rippers. Ive got way too much $$$ building them as complete packages chassis, brakes, motor, suspension, etc.... But its fun humbling crotchrocketeers in the twisties on em and completely comfortable to ride.

Not many things quite so funny as someone on a HD going around the outside of someone wearing leathers that cost more than the average second hand car on an R1 / Hyabusa / Ducati / Fireblade pretending that they didn’t use a belt sander to remove the chicken strips on their tyres!

The S10 gets more mileage than these two combined.....I drive it most of the year in all sorts of weather, environments.

My summertime daily/tourer that is forced to compete with the S10 for time from June to September. '03 Corvette ragtop (50th Anniversary), 6spd manual, 99% stock, near showroom condition.

Chev 2500 "Old Long and White" gets to do all the heavy work in summer and gets winter duty. A former British Columbia truck, it isn't the typical northern rust bucket we often see up here. Rustproofed/oil guarded every year. Surprisingly only gets average 4500 miles/yr added to the clock. Disgustingly thirsty gas pig. Knock on wood but it's never let me down once in all the years I've owned it.

Got your money's worth out of that one. :D
The Michelin Pilot Road 2 that I would run on the TDMs when I could find them would give me between 22,000 & 26,000km - and that’s using all of the tyre
A bit different on the S10 with it having a heap more power and being heavier.

I never was much of a fan of Corvettes until my wife bought me 10 laps at the Texas Motor Speedway. It was an '09 Z-06, and after 10 laps on the road course, I had a new respect for them. We had to keep it in 4th gear, and I didn't expect much. I was surprised at how much grunt it had out of the corners.
