Tenere owners are a curious bunch. Wonder what everyone likes with four wheels.

Been building on this pile (02 Limited 4x4) since spring. Last two owners abused the crap out of it and lifted it improperly. Got it for a steal.

My 3rd 4Runner and 5th toyota truck I've owned. The cheapest by a long shot.

Hmmmm. . . . my Tenere is my daily ride; 6k/yr. My Jeep is my other ride; 2k/yr.

Same S10 is my daily. This thing sits. Just pulled it out today for the first time since I bought it. It was sitting in my carport for ages before that. It was owned by a buds little bro. Took pitty on the truck and tried to teach him. But, he had a career to start.

I wan't a new model gladiator bad. I actually fit in them.

Crazy tho when you look under a toyota and a jeep. Big quality difference. Not knocking jeeps tho they earned their stripes and xj's are arguably better quality then same year 4Runners. Think they kinda started swapped places around 2000.

What year is your jeep? Engine? Miles? Mechanical woahs?

I thought I wanted one too. Pick-up without a roof? Yes please. But then I started investigating. The Gladiator and JKU are identical except for 20" of extra frame for the bed. The Gladiator frame is a Ram 1500 frame. (which means the JKU has the same frame but shorter) My JKU doesn't turn anywhere near as tight as my YJ. The Gladiator is even worse; turns like the truck it is.

But the worst part is the power train. (same motor, trans, transfer case, and axle ratio(s) 100% the same as a JKU. My max tow weight is 3,500lbs with my 3.73:1 axles. The Gladiators is 7,000lbs When my kids loaded up a U-Haul open trailer and put our three bikes in it, it was real close to that 3,500lbs. The Jeep pulled it . . . . barely. Just barely. I can't imagine doubling the weight. I don't think the Rubicon's 4.10:1 axles would make much of a difference.

The Gladiator was never offered with the Hemi, and I don't think they ever put their little diesel in either.

Okay but hear me out...

Buy a salvage. Bob the frame and tray back it.

Maybe even move the rear axle foward a smidge.

Ls swap. Done.

Think about doing it to this truck. SAS the front while I'm at it. Dual 1 tons. 40's.

I saw a glimpse of a Jeep truck with an extended cab yesterday. Was already past it when I realized what I saw. Obviously a custom job. Unless it was one of those prototypes they came out with about 15 years ago.

I've seen one of the LJs turned into a 2dr truck. Kinda reminded me of an Explorer Sport Track. Bed was useless. Doing what you're suggesting would be easier to start with the JKU, put the Gladiator bed on and make it a two door.

I got a two door Jeep JK. Sorry no pictures available right now. I will see if I can find some of it. I can't say that it is my main ride though. My Super T and my DR650 take care of that. Although I do drive this Jeep a lot more than the pickup trucks I have owned. I have a 1986 Dodge and a 2002 Dodge truck and I will never put a 100,000 on either of them.

Neither looks like much but the Bolt is an electric go-cart that is actually zippy to drive and costs me less than $400/year.

The van is the kayak carrier, has a murphy bed which folds to the wall so I can carry motorcycles and everything else to be my steel tent, plus 260W solar on the roof and 200 Ah of batteries with an 2kw AC inverter. Bought it for a steal when Budget had to declare bankruptcy and can still get out what I have in it.

And then we have her 2023 ICE Tucson for long road trips to Ohio and Michigan for family.
