Ex FJR guy here. ::008:: I kinda miss the zip and I think the FJR is more comfortble on long rides, but I like being able to go off-road on the ST.
Hey Mr.twisty....
I came across the pics of your DRZ case...

Then the fix to get out of the woods... :)

Had 3 consecutive FJRs and put 120,000 miles on them. I suppose that means I bonded with them. Had a 1400 GTR Kawasaki - sold it pronto., Crap suspension, too heavy and the keyless ignition failed a long way from home. Last 2 bikes (concurrent) were an ST1300 and a 1200 Multistrada. I miss the Multistradsa a bit but I wouldn't swap my current S10 for any of them. Oh yeah, I've bonded with the S10 alright.

Operating on the DRZ & we just got the SV , SM/DS back on the trail.

Hey Joe! Nice to see you here! Yeah, that was an awesome day up until I punched the hole in my engine case. Thanks again for the golf tee. ::025:: I still have the DRZ and it runs like a top. Just can't kill the thing, and believe me, I've tried.

So, where ya hangin' out these days?

I still can't kill the KLR... :D

I hang out by the beach.
No more mountains. :( :-[
The motorcycle riding in florduh sucks.
But...

I ride this a lot. It's got handle bars & a Ninja motor. ::008::
Best riding near me is in the Gulf of Mexico island hopping & riding the surf in the passes.
Lot more bikini's around here is a plus too!

All Yamaha fan here. I grew up in the deserts of SoCal, riding Honda ATVs (starting with the first ever ATV, the mighty ATC90!). When I started buying my own machines, the first one I bought was the Banshee (ATV with the old RZ350 motor). Since then, I have owned an 89 Radian, an 04 FJR, a FZR that was given to me as a project (that I passed onto someone else), and still own a YFZ450 (gotta have my dune fix), an 08 FJR and of course my ST.

I've had bikes before the Tenere but they are all forgotten now. I can't get enough of my Tenere.

My most previous ride was a 2004 DL650 Strom. Really liked it but not as much as my current 1200 XTZ - Probably like it twice as much - ::008::
I had a Yamaha RD400 when I was a younger man -

Oh, you didn't mean literally? :D

I picked up the KLR last summer, and instantly fell in love. The more I rode it, the more I liked it. It's done everything from medium distance trips, to single track, to commuting. I kept telling myself that if it only had ~30 more ponies (without extra weight), it just might be capable of a do-it-all bike. Enter the s10.

Picked it up about 6wks ago, and haven't regretted it once. It's heavier than the KLR, sure, but hides it very well. I still can't seem to bring myself to part with the KLR, so for now it's still in the stable. Ended up slapping some lowering links on, and working on getting the misses into the dual-sport world. I only wish I'd found it sooner. ::001::

FJR....Love my Tenere, and its a better all around bike but couldn't let the FJR go. The Feejer brings on spontaneous wood and stress relief when you throttle up in a way that the Tenere was never meant to. FAST. If you are going to hell and you want to take some luggage there is no peer to it....well the Connie 14 of course but its butt ugly except from the front.
The FJR is also the best combination of fast, comfortable and reliable out there, no real peer in that. Dominates the Iron Butt from what I have seen.

I was selling my 05 KLR to buy the tenere and got cold feet.... I finally bought the tenere anyway ::013:: and I love it too!

I have to say I have some Awesome memories riding my KLR. I took twenty years off from riding - long story and wanted to get back into it. A friend at work suggested the KLR. After a KLR gathering at Tellico Plains and riding lessons and practice I got on that trip, I did a trip to CO and UT. I will forever be hooked on adventure riding. Not sure if I will ever be able to part with the kLR.

I also picked a Gold Wing and have put many a happy mile on it! I thought of getting rid of the Goldwing BUT my wife said Absolutely not.

NOW I HAVE THREE BIKES!
So I guess I too am a KLR Guy who has a Wing. I love the Tenere because it sort of brings the strength of both bikes together

I can't bring myself to selling the old Klr. I bought i ::018::t right before my daughter was born in 05.
My tenere is gonna be a year old in Feb & it only has 4000 miles on it.
Between work & a house we just bought doing stuff fixing it up...
I have no time to ride & play with my bikes or jet ski.

No time to ride but I want a 3rd bike too!
Been lusting about getting a Honda fury. Shaft drive, v twin with no spokes.
A reliable chopper.

I bought my KLR brand new for $5K out the door in 1998. I have it farkled out pretty good, its running stage 3 jets with a Laser produro stainless steel race core exhaust, probably making 40 horse power like this. Its been to Moab, UT 3 times and a bunch of AMA dual sport events in northern Wisconsin and Michigan. She is semi-retired here in Florida now. I've done all my own maintenance, 40K miles and not a single problem. Just replaced the clutch single handed in about 2 hours. I run MT21 street legal knobbies and that makes it a very competent off road ride though Florida sugar sand is out of the question.
Purchased my mid life crisis Super T in Feb. 2012 and still find time to ride both bikes. Super T now has 6k miles on it. The KLR is now my "guest bike" and it puts an ear to ear smile on all who ride it.

I wish you wouldn't call yourself that. I've also had all 4, but way more of the "other".

2001 KLR 5 years
2005 Wee Strom 6 months
2006 Vee Strom 4 years
2008 Wee Strom ABS 3 years (wife's bike)
2005 FJR 6 weeks (really wasn't for me)

The KLR was the one that lasted the longest time wise, but only had 5K on it when it left. The FJR talked itself out of my fleet very quickly. I had high hopes, but I'm just not a road bike kinda guy. Same story with my old FZ1, but it at least lasted 6 month. Still, the FJR was not the shortest period I've owned a bike. That dubious honor belongs to the brand new GS500 I owned from Saturday, until I traded it in on Thursday for the KLR. Ouch$$$, should have ended my road bike experiment with that one. I think I've finally learned...maybe. Still just scratching the surface of the bikes that I've owned.

Most commonly owned bike: XT ::012:: (XT350, XT600, XT225, XT1200, XT1200) Gotta love 'em. ::012::
