Isn't it funny how we buy something new and proceed to take it apart immediately

I've been really in a bad mood for the most part for two weeks now watching the rest of the USA "fix" the junk that Yamaha apparently pawned off as a motorcycle. Well I like mine way it is. My wife says I should not care or get all depressed over what others do to to their bikes and that is advice I wish I could do.
Get ready to hurl, Ron. I'm putting ape hangers on mine, big tall ones with leather fringed hand grips on the ends. I think I'll paint some skulls on the tank and trim the whole bike in orange neon LEDs. I'll probably add 4 or 5 freeway blaster horns mounted to the chromed highway bars and pegs. Of course, I'll be getting a new helmet, probably of the motocross variety and mount one of those purple mohawks on top. ::021::

For a change, I made no changes to my bike (except positioning the levers) during the first couple weeks I had my bike.

All of the changes I have in mind are all functional, comfort, or protection-based. I've already mounted my new tank bag. Case guards, bash plate, luggage rack, turn signals that don't reflect on the windscreen at night, windscreen adjuster, gps mount are all on the list. I want comfort and armour. And I keep all of my take-offs.

I'm afraid I fall into the rare leave it alone catagory. I'll add my Gerbings power cord for heated gear, and someday add a GPS. That's it for me. All the skid plates, protectors and most of all those stickers, well suffice it to say they will not ever be on my bike as long as I am still alive. i won't be changing seats, adding risers, changing the windshield for a Goldwing windshield either. Won't be repainting, that is for damn sure. So many things guys do make me physically sick. I'm not kidding, I see how nice these bikes are then whithin days they are for the most part ruined forever. I support your decision to do it your way, but I also point out that you are very judgmental of others to your detriment. I saw you are an LD rider and good for you. When I started LD riding I found I needed different things to make it better or easier. I'd hate to think of doing LD rides now on a stock softail harley now. Like Jason mentioned above, Most of the changes made by me and others are "functional". Actually, if I kept the XTZ totally stock, it would be sorta worthless to me for my uses. The ergonomics wouldn't fit me, there would be no easy way for me to carry clothes or tools if needed for long trips, I'd have no heated grips or heated gear (although I see you will add that small item for comfort), etc. On my bike the decals from wasp are the only thing I've added that I can think of that isn't functional but just because I like them. And honestly, it isn't any of your business, but if you want to get your panties in a wad because of what I or others do to their own personal bikes, feel free to get in the dumps about it or get your blood pressure up--your choice as well. I'd suggest you consider having an open mind and leave your judgment of others in your mind and not your computer keyboard but your choice as well to do or not to do. It won't stop me from making my bike mine ::025::.

Uh, you forgot deer whistles and purple neon lights under the bike and all over the engine. Other than those things your additions seem perfectly reasonable ::013::

Ride and let ride .... I like it. Does this mean I'm supposed to just walk away from this "blue bike" thing that has plagued this forum? Well ...... Okay. I'm gonna let it go once and for all. Black is beautiful but blue is .... okay. This is painful but I'm man enough to step up and extend the fender of friendship. I'm done with it. O:) Enjoy. Ride and let ride. Even though you're .... no, never mind. I'm done. Blue is .... nice. ::003:: Ride and let ride. R

Slow black? SLOW BLACK ??????? OK, I'm going to be the adult here and not make any derogatory remarks about your ::025:: blue ::025:: , totally devoid of character, lackluster bike

I'm just not the kind of guy to point out that blue is suited to produce low spirits; gloomy in prospect; Literary; -- applied to women; -- an abbreviation of bluestocking; characterized by profanity or cursing; "foul-mouthed and blasphemous"; "blue language"; "profane words" [syn: blasphemous, profane]; suggestive of sexual impropriety; "a blue movie"; "blue jokes"; "a juicy scandal"; "a naughty wink"; "naughty words"; "racy anecdotes"; "a risque story"; "spicy gossip"

I'm not the kind of guy to do that. O:) I forgive you for your choice. I'm sure it will be fine and you will come to like, perhaps even care a great deal for, your bike. Those lesser bikes among us require more care and attention. You are more than welcome to park your bike just down the road from my driveway anytime you wish. Maybe bring a bike cover when you come. The neighbors aren't as understanding as I am. What a man. R

Jumping in (a blue bike owner)...and black is, well...a void..as in black hole, nothingness, devoid of color, empty, lacks creativity......

Rem,

We all must try to understand that Rod has a very serious condition, Penis Envy, and must compensate, primarily because he spent a lot of money on a mistake he "thinks" he made (he actually DID!) :'(

We must all give him a virtual group hug (here you go, Rod) ::020:: and sing Kum-Bay-Ya while we ride our BLACK bikes. We must be understanding and compassionate.

As friends and comrades, I feel we should also start a collection to provide the necessary funds to help him repaint the BLUE parts of his bike BLACK. We could include enough to have the parts of his frame that were mistakenly painted silver, powder-coated to match those on our BLACK bikes. It shouldn't be that expensive, and what kind of humans would we be if we didn't help a friend in need??

We can ALL help him reverse this sad mistake and avoid psychological therapy :))

I will gladly handle the collection. I figure about $10 each would do it. You can PM me for a PayPal address. (I need more accessories for my BLACK bike ::025:: ::025::)

Your concept has merit, and what else should we expect from a black bike rider.

I, too, have given this much thought and have a proposal .....

I think the time has come to initiate a national campaign, a show of support, a sign of deference to our lesser companions, the blue bikes. ::002::

I'm calling it the "Tie a blue ribbon around the old black fork". I think it would be very appropriate for the black bike riders among us, clearly in the majority, to show support for our lesser siblings, the blue bikes, by tying a blue ribbon to a front fork of your bike.

I think this would be a noble and mature approach to the situation, and who better but the black bike riders to initiate such support ?? We are, after all, a most manure ... uh, mature ... and understanding group. [/size] O:)

I hope this takes off and will give some comfort to those of you who perhaps erred somewhat in your initial choice of colors. There is no need to be embarrassed or to continue to suffer humiliation. We're here to help.

Please ... there is absolutely no need to thank us. Ride and let ride. R
