Re: 2014 Non ES Factory Heated Grips

Great, that's what we want to hear !!
I ordered the same 2 parts from MR Cycles in Ashville NC, cost about $20 more but still a great deal vs buying the $400 "kit"
So guys, now we have multiple confirmations, just order the 2 grips from the ES parts list and plug and play on your standard 2014 S10
Half the price of the Yami kit !!
Warm hands for all standards now.

Be sure to lubricate the wire inside the housing. The instructions seemed to stress the importance of this. I wonder if parts 10 and 11 aren't the wire guide and screw. Hard to tell from the picture. I was given a nice discount on the kit when I bought the bike but this is a good deal and the way to go for Gen. 2 non ES buyers.

I think you are correct. I have the factory instructions and the parts look the same, (though the illustration in the schematic is not great). For $12 more, I''d definitely include them with your heated grip order.
Looks like everything in the grip kit IS available separately, saving the buyer almost $200. Guess that's what Yamaha thinks 5 pages of instructions are worth. For those interested, I'll sell them for quite a bit less ;)

Interesting. I just received my oem ES heated grips, the screw and loom, which will go on my standard 2014 S10. All parts are made in Japan except the left heated grip is made in Vietnam.

Maybe this is why it took a month to get these parts.

Here's a picture of the parts.

Question guys. I just had a dealer install the grip heaters on my 2015 standard ST. The wires coming off the right side grip heater seem to arc really high and move/vibrate a lot when riding. Did they mess up?

Are you sure you're not talking about the throttle cables?

Not sure actually. I'll take a pic tomorrow and send. That being said, I looked at the instructions listed and it looks like the grip heater cables.

For those of you that self installed, did you get the Yamabond 7 adhesive or use something else?
I may stop by the dealership today, but I doubt they keep yamabond in stock.

I used a shot of the wife's hairspray. Has been a motorcycle forum tip years. I believe this is the fourth set I have installed this way.

::026:: I use this trick on the grips on my quad, and it sees much harder use than my ST.

So, I wimped out and let the dealership install them. Charged an hour of shop time.

The good news, paid $220 parts vs. $399 kit. Now I've got comfy warm hands in the cold!

Big Big Big call out to Tupperware. Thanks for the OEM instructions. ::008::

Thanks for that! Where are those prices from? They're $20 less than what I've found.
