Depends on where I'm going...Since I Can't carry at work and I don't want to leave my firearm secured on the bike I just go with out. Otherwise I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II .45APC in OW holster on my hip...not visible with my riding gear. If I have the Aerostich suit on I use a shoulder holster.

If I'm going out of State with the exception of Vermont I leave it at home....don't have a licesnce for any other states....and VT doesn't require one.

Funny, that's the exact gun I have been looking at for conceal carry.....how do you like it?

In the past on trips inside Colorado I either carry open on my thigh, or just put my 45 in my tank bag. I figured there would be quite a few folks that carry, the camping aspect skews that slightly I guess, but still....sort of part of the overall adventure mindset

Just stay away from the locations that make it difficult for citizens to own guns. Those places can be pretty dangerous. Safest places to be are where there are lots of gun owners. Lots of polite people.

Yeah, criminals tend to stay away from armed citizens. Cities like Chicago where gun restrictions are extremstringentgent have very high rates of violent crime.

Posh.

I am a gun owner and occasionally have weapons access to work occasionally in militarized areas, but land mines and snakes are a bigger concern. We more often work in bloody locations in the bush that bring in bears and other critters where we also may have weapons access, but those aren't a "ride in US" and even for critters I'd first rather use spray.

The whole issue seems to make people lose their common sense & I've seen too many people who carry escalate situations, not defuse them. Carry if you want to and are able, but the old bit about places being polite where people carry legally misses the fact that those aren't the gang banger neighborhoods that those same polite people avoid in the first place. I've seen plenty of nasty places in the world with armed citizens who were not very polite.

If on your vacation you display the lack of judgement to get into a place where you think that might need a weapon, just put it in gear and leave. We appreciate your tourist dollars and you'll have a great time.

Not much to worry about. Travel and camp smart. ex: I wouldn't camp along a river during salmon season. ex: leave my fully loaded motorcycle where it could be vandalized. Some riders sport a "NRA" sticker on their motorcycle.

I have never fired any of my guns other than at a Gun Range or private property and I am guessing most of the others would say the same.

I'm surprised to the number of folks carry guns on them or their bikes. Interesting thread...

Carry a Glock 21 or 36, .45 cal, in either the saddlebags, tank bag, or in a Maxpedition side pouch. As they say, "I don't leave home without it!"

I sometime ride my S-10 to the shooting range with my AK slung over my back. I get funny looks from sheepish soccer moms! :D

But I carry most everywhere I go every day so when on the bike its no different. What good is your second amendment right if you don't use it!

On long rides I carry either a Kahr arms pm40 or a Springfield Armory xd40 subcompact. Unless I'm riding through Massachusetts since I'm not permitted there.

I can't carry a gun where I live so instead I always bring a machete, brass knuckles, mace and a flail.

Glock 17 in tank bag. We have virtually no gun laws in AZ. No CCW permit necessary to carry concealed. Many people carry. No big deal.

Funny story. Two years ago I was working at our PD shooting range. An officer on vacation from somewhere in the UK came by for a tour. We gave him the royal treatment (bad pun I know). We let him fire many of our duty semi-auto and full auto rifles. One guy even broke out his personal "Tommy" gun and let him shoot it. Needless to say, the UK officer had a great time. He did not carry a firearm in his duty capacities where he worked.

We asked him what he carried for protection on duty. He told us he carries a SAP. We laughed and told him we weren't allowed to carry those on duty!
