try southwest, they have a direct flight, no need for extra assistance along the way :D
Can't remember if they're the guys that pass out the warm, chocolate chip cookies, or not. If they're the ones, I'll request they lock a couple in the bags before they off load them! Those things sure beat the rest of the food most of the airlines serve, excluding the beer, of course! :D

So, how many have considered these case farkles?

One thing that bothers me a bit is the shipping. I priced the case's shipping only at $102 and the cases plus all the above farkles at $122 shipping via UPS ground. Can't they just put the other stuff in the same box for the same price. These shipping costs are not a deal breaker for me at all, BUT I have purchased many things over the internet, including big screen TVs, motorcycle tires, etc. where shipping was free. Honda Direct Line is a good example, where they have frequent 10% off and free shipping with purchases over $100.

Quoting the shipping statement on Micatech: "These fees do not necessarily represent UPS published rates and may include handling charges levied by Micatech Motorcycle Luggage."
I seriously considered the Micatech bags and probably would have pulled the trigger on a pair had it not been for the shipping cost. That said, I'm sure they will be great bags for all those that choose them. :)

Outrageous shipping costs are a way of life up here. I try to get the retailer to send stuff "cheap and slow". Some will walk it to the post office, most won't. They have UPS come get it. I once was quoted by Gerbings a shipping cost of $92.00 for a little 12 dollar dc plug in for their jacket. I asked them to please send it by USPS. They refused. So I had it sent to my wife's sister in Texas and she sent it up for about 5 bucks.

Just something we live with up here. I don't like it, but that's the way it is.

If you guys feel sorry for me and want to take up a collection .... never mind.

Anyway, I'm in. I think they will serve me well. It's gonna cost a small fortune to get anything up here so I just go ahead and do it. Good luck to the rest of you on shipping costs. RR

Hmmmm, the USPS has been running ads on TV over the Christmas holidays touting their "if it fits, it ships" showing a mailman picking up a USPS box from a housewife at her home, so it would appear that the USPS would come and get it. I have a PO two blocks away from my house, so it's a moot point for me. I have had a bit of trouble with Gerbings a while back. I bought a wired jacket liner and a short time later a seam in one of the sleeves came undone. I stopped in at their vendor booth in Ruidoso NM during a rally (same booth I bought the jacket the year before) and showed the fellow my liner. Suggested that he replace the liner. He called Gerbings and they said to send it in. Out of warranty and I would have to pay repair and shipping both ways. I just fixed it when I got home with liquid stitch glue. Been fine ever since, but my feelings - to hell with Gerbings - lousy service does not grow a business and they probably won't see any more coin from me.

I do feel sorry for you and I might have a few Loonies and Toonies laying about from my last trip to the Great White North. I'd send them, but it's sort of a long walk to the PO... ;) Wish we would eliminate pennies here in the lower 48 and use Loonies/Toonies. Much more convenient...but I digress

My last few years of flying, 1999 was last time, IIRC, the meal shrunk down to a precious few peanuts and a small cup of pop and then because of the peanut allergy thing, I suppose, I would get a bag with 3 or 4 tiny pretzels - Oh Boy! If I would have gone out of state for my S10, probably would have driven with trailer just to stay off those darned infernal flying machines.

Rod,

I sold my FJR about 3 years ago, but kept the free liners. They fit perfect on my GL1800 and worked ok in my V-Strom Krappa luggage, so if you have those liner bags, they may very well fit the bill. Also considered various bags from Sportsman Warehouse or REI or maybe Campmore.

Bob,
I assume you are responding to my thread asking about liners for my Givi bags. I'm still searching - had not considered Sportsmans or Campmore, but will check them out. Right now, TLC products seem to have the most to offer. As for th FJR bags, I will probably let mine go with the bike when the time comes.

Thanks!

Rod

Hey guys, a note on shipping:

We will ship out three boxes.

Left Case

Right Case

SW Motech Racks
If you order any additional farkles (roof racks, rack locks, reflective tape, liner bags) we'll wrap these up and put them inside one of the cases. These are big packages... We do whatever we can to keep shipping costs low and package everything with care.

I'm seriously considering the group buy....but would like to see a couple of pics of a actual V2 bag in 'black with silver vein'. I could not find one on the MicaTech site.

Anyone have one?

Steve, have you ever seen Gladiator Garage cabinets? I think it is the same powdercoat. I have them in my garage so am familiar with them. Looks good, but I have the black bike so I am going with all black on mine.

Thanks for posting this. I called earlier and discussed shipping and was told the same thing. Shipping 3 large boxes to Texas was near 125.00 and I could have the extras shipped with the cases.

I've got a question for Micatech. I was going to ask directly via email, but figured the others here might be interested also . . .

I would also like a top box. I know you don't have a mount made up for the S10 yet, but would it be possible to mount your top box to either the stock rear rack, or one of the other aftermarket rear racks already available? I don't know exactly how your mounts work, so I was just curious.

I'd like to order the top box with my panniers when I place my order when I get the discount code, but wanted to clear this up first.

Hi Krabill,
You're right, we'd like to get our top case on the S10. As of now, without a bike, we haven't designed a mounting system. All of our top cases mount using four 1/4 turn fasteners. The top case has for holes in the bottom (in a 10" square pattern) that the 1/4 turns connect through. The bottom of the case is flat which makes mounting to other racks possible. We have in the past, made custom top cases for special orders without the 4 holes - allowing the customer to mount the box anyway they choose. Give us a call if you'd like to go this route and we'll be happy to discuss possibilities.

Hey Steve,
Here's a small color swatch from the website. I know it doesn't really show you a good perspective of how it looks on a full case. We'll try and dig up a better picture for you soon. Thanks for your interest in our luggage.

I'll probably just buy a standard top box, then get whatever mounting plate you come up with after the bikes start shipping. I wasn't one of the first ones ordered, so I think I'll have plenty of time to wait before I even have a bike to put it on.

This may be the wrong place, but earlier we were discussing the cost of shipping. I mentioned that Gerbings wanted 92 bucks to send a little dc plug in converter to Canada.

Just now, I went into the Altrider site and checked out the kickstand foot plate. I was quoted .... wait for it ..... $113.50 to send it to Canada.

Just another example of a big company who turns all their shipping over to UPS or FedEx. Is that absurd, or what? Just wanted to mention it. I guess I'll do without that little item for a while. If I decide to buy from them, I'll have it sent to a friend in the U. S. and they can mail it up for 5 bucks.

Good luck to the rest of you on shipping costs. My apologies if this is the wrong place to bring this up. RR

Thanks for the reply. Yep that pic is the only one I could find on your web site.

Looking forward to a pic (or 3) of the V2's in this color.

Thanks!

I agree, that is what I want to see as well (black with the silver vein). I would also like to see a video showing all the qualities of the V2.

I agree on the video. I searched Youtube for any info on Micatech and there was nothing. This would be a good sales tool for you Micatech and it is free.

Hey, Rem, sorry to hear you had difficulty with our site -- did it offer you any other quotes? We also offer USPS options, too, but have to quote them individually. Shoot Christina an email (christina.o@altrider.com), and she should be able to help you sort this out.
