Will be requesting those days off in the morning!

Whorepedo, how could you not like Barber??? I got 3 parade laps in last June and was giggling like a little school girl. Can only imagine what it would be like to ride it in anger! Plus, the museum is top notch.

Honestly, I think it was overpriced and overhyped. Flame on... :))

There was nothing wrong with the track per-say. I just think CMP, Jennings, or Little Tally is way better bargain and usually a much smaller crowd. I've never rode Road Atlanta either and it was purely cost biased. The only reason I got on Barber was a friend working got me a hook-up.

------------------

On topic - It looks like we're going to have a pretty good crowd! I'm excited.

More news...

It looks like I have set us up with a "Ridemaster" of sorts who knows the area really well and is willing to lead us around on a group ride of the local roads. Including some forest service roads and pavement.

Ogre can vouch for him (Dan - Bluelightning) as a really good ride leader.

Yes, Dan is a really good ride leader.
I will be sticking to pavement. Will have the girlfriend with me and she is not terribly comfortable taking her SV off road. We may need 2 groups, one that does dual sport and one that does not. I have no problem leading a pavement group if needed. I know some of the roads in the area pretty well, but certainly not all. I know well how to follow a route on the GPS for the roads I don't know and can manage to keep a group of riders together pretty well. If Dan comes up with something for the pavement only, I can work with that group. Girlfriend has a paired Scala and can ride sweep to make sure we don't lose anyone and can communicate to me if there are issues. Just my 2 cents worth. BTW, I am not a fast street rider. I keep my speed obsession to the track, so my pavement pace will be moderate.

I have done several rides put together by Dan and had an excellent time. Ogre, I'll be riding with your street only group. ::008::

As with all good things it usually cost a lot. I have attended Barber since it opened in '03. I was racing with WERA back then and we were the first motorcycles to race on the track after completion. Its a very cool track but a very challenging track as there are many blind rises.

I vist Talladega GP just as much and love it even though I had a big crash there back in March which pretty much wiped out my '11 GSXR1000 trackbike. It has been rebuilt and I am back near 100% healthy.

Road Atlanta is a fun track and very high speed. I didn't have issue with it back in the day racing but now days those concrete walls seem very close. It's a long haul for me to make RA and I don't go there as much as I used to.

NOLA is just south of me I have not rode it yet but plan to. Its very flat but open with a long straight which benefits my 1000.

I apologize for getting off topic but my passion for track riding is over whelming at times.

If my August date at Barber for some reason goes south I will certainly make this rally unless I'm busted up from a get off. ::26::

Ogre - Thats a good point about communicators. Dan and I both have Sena's (Cause they're better than Scalas :p)

If you guys want to do the road groups I can sweep for Dan's duallie group.

Most of the rallies I go to theres always a Group ride or two and then several folks just do their own thing and meet back for dinner/fellowship so dont anyone thing they have to join a group ride.

Its most likely going to be Crawfords at Tellico. I emailed them this afternoon to confirm they can take us. Once they confirm I'll post it up and change the title ::008::

Yeah, I'm fairly annoyed with the scala and their lack of customer service but it is what Nancy had so it is what I went with at the time.
I figured there would be a couple of group rides going different directions. I don't do many group rides these days but this one should bea good time. We'll work it out better a we get closer.

Roy, I agree on all accounts. I am very passionate about track riding. Road Atlanta is better with the AMA configuration for turn 3 and turn 12. Turn 5 can still be a bit scary if you go wide but not too bad.
I'm hopefully going to do NOLA in early September. That should be fun! Mid Ohio is another pretty scary place in some spots with the walls right there, especially Thunder Valley. And if it wet it is wet, it is really sketchy!

Sena's are cheap right now. Tenerejack has one, too. You can get a pair for around $200 on rocketmoto.com

Can't do it right now. I just had to put a new motor in my 750 track bike. That took all of my play funds for this month.

EDIT: We've decided on Aug 24-26.

So I just spent the weekend up at Deals Gap for the Southeastern V-strom Rally. There were only 20-30 riders there so it was rather small considering the amount of vstrom talk you hear.

But while I sat at my campfire I thought... Is there a Tenere Rally and I just havent heard of it? Especially in Georgia where it seems we have so many members. I searched the forum for "rally" and came up blank so I thought I'd throw it out there to see if there's any interest. We've got all summer to throw something together. Ride & Camp? Ride and Hotel?

Anybody?

If this has been posted and organized, forgive me.

I had a blast this weekend even though I was surrounded by stroms and rain...

Whorepedo,

I was up at IronHorse last weekend too - actually last Friday night. I saw ur bike, but didn't know where y'all were hanging out at. Anyway, me and two buddies have been going to IronHorse twice a year since May 2010 - when we all owned V-Stroms. We just haven't stayed there since then, just nearby at a friend's. We've always planned our trips to coincide with the V-Strom rally just because. My friend who lives nearby has taken me / us on tons of gravel / forest service roads in the area and everything else too. We rode up there from May 16 - 19th.

IronHorse is hard to beat for a resort and location too - but not for The Dragon ( it's overrated) - because all u have to do is ride there - like you've already said. They have tent space, bunkhouses, cabins, even RV space, showers with soap and shampoo, coolers u can rent, ice, porches and a fire pit, and they serve breakfast and supper. Some may like different options and of course, that's fine too. I'm just adding my experience.

Ya know... I thought I saw another Tenere on Friday but never saw it again the rest of the weekend. My ST got a lot of attention from the Strom crowd!

Ironhorse is a great place but change is good. ::003::

Blue Ridge Motorcycle campground up in Cruso, NC is another great campground. ;)

Also the Kickstand Lodge right down the road from Ironhorse is a good place. Here of late it has been over run with Harley types but I can co-exist with just about any group. Hard to beat MO's cooking there and laid back attitude ::003::

I have stayed at them all at one point or another. I can even tolerate the Gap camping for a night or two. :))

Wildcat in Suches, Ga likes to host Rally events the COG have their anual get together there every year now since it opened. I like the Wildcat because of the RV full hookups. When my wife goes the house on wheels goes no tent camping for her and she won't stay in cabins or motels. ::)

Skeenah Gap off Hwy 60 in N. Ga. is another good campground with full RV hookups and a nice tent camp area near an creek old mill.

So many options up in that part of the world, I can't wait to get up there tomorrow! ::012::
