I've already put the deposit on it, and if the price is right, I'll keep the S10 for touring. I just hope they make it right. I want rally look and capabilities.
Is that too much to ask!?

You have a long wait for something that won't be out till 2017 if your lucky.

Somehow I doubt it'll make it's way across the pond. If they would just do an R version of the WR450 as a road legal from factory bike, a crap-ton of people would be happy.

In the end, they need a competitor to the Strom and Versys. I'll bet it does come to market or they would not be making the big splash. The question will be how much of the thoroughbred being shown goes into the model which gets released?

Being the eternal optimist, I think that Yamaha will bring this bike in as shown, minus the stupid headlight, better seat, and beefier rear frame.
If it keeps the 21/18 hoops, it will blow the vstrom and versys out of the water, since it's purpose built (except the motor) to be used as a proper 70hp dual purpose

Screw all this waiting around. ::017:: I'm got a FZ07 abs on order for February. My tenere is fine for the fire roads I ride.
The current FZ07 weigh in at 398 lbs. Let the projects begin ::008::

The T7 is undeniably cool, but it's pretty hard-core towards the dirt side. I'm hoping Yamaha softens it a bit towards being a better all-arounder and keeps the price within reason. Given that very rideable prototypes have been seen for six-months, I'm unsure why getting this to market should stretch into 2018, but the Japanese just seem to move at a glacial pace getting new product to market these days. Unfortunately, this pace often leaves them with bikes that are already somewhat obsolete when they finally arrive. BMW, KTM, Ducati, and Husky are not going to be standing still for the next 16 months.

Maybe this concept is really just a place-holder teaser and the "real" XT700 is a couple months from being ready. Yamaha sorta did this when the S10 first appeared, showing an odd concept right before.

Yea, I could see the T7 in my stable...I'm not doing as much long distance stuff on my ST, and having a smaller/lighter bike to throw around the local fire roads would be a hoot...

Hmmmm....it looks production ready as far as fit/finish, sort of. It says Yamaha & T7, but the no labels on the switchgear. Skid plate was aftermarket. Cool bike regardless. Looks more like a 700cc dirt bike than a 700cc Tenere.
