Since I received mine in August of last year (as many of you did) , I can't say that I experienced the hottest temperatures on my S10. Two or three weeks before receiving the S10 it was 108 degrees Fahrenheit here in PA. I was riding my Vstrom at the time and the fan would not stop running. Can't say that the VStrom was all that bad though. At those temperatures it felt like you were sucking on a hair dryer. I'm hoping that the S10 is as good as the VStrom was. I have already started to warn guys I ride with that I should pull up to them on the Left side, so they don't get a blast of my Radiator Fan on them. ???
Love the sound of that fan though. Like a jet angine. ;D

I rode my S10 Saturday in Phoenix. Intake air temp was showing at 104. I noticed heat from the radiator once or twice in 4 hours of riding, not uncomfortable heat though. (I wear jeans.) I felt the heat while moving, which I think is managable, but not at all while sitting at stop lights. The Buell is just the opposite and the heat is much higher too.

This was one of my big criteria for a new bike. When I test rode the Explorer I noticed heat rising from both sides of the engine while sitting at a stop light after a 10 minute test ride. Again this is Phoenix and it was over 90, but that put me off that bike a little. I'm pretty happy with heat management on the S10.

You can't say that about an Explorer. It's perfect man! It's just soooooo this year!!

But seriously, It seems to be sooooo this decade to complain about heat.

I have found previously that summer is hot, sitting in traffic on black asphalt is hotter, and having a bike under you idling gets even hotter.

The air cooled ones would singe the inside of your leg, The water cooled ones blow hot air around and the big water cooled ones with the under seat exhausts try to suffocate the person behind you and melt your ass and face in the process.

I find the S10 to be fairly mild in all those areas FOR a 1200CC bike. (at least from memory, from that one hot day we had in summer this year.)

Seriously looking at the Raven . I ride the Kawi' C-14 concours and its the first year 2008 . I am north of Seattle in Marysville Wa. and My 'Connie is a hot one, roasting my right leg on the warm days. The S10 looks awesome, a "do it all" bike. I think I would enjoy it.
Hey fellow Washingtonian I traded my 2009 Concours 14 & my 2009 DRZ400s for my S-10. I was a bit tired of maintaining two bikes. I wanted a bike that I could do gravel roads with now & then. I think my wife who rides with me a lot still would be happier on the Concours but says she's fine on the S-10. She was a bit worried about passing power but after riding from Bothell to Ephrata over Hwy 2 yesterday she'd not concerned with power any longer.

When riding alone, I much prefer the S-10.

This morning it was 0.6C at work.

I couldn't feel any heat :(

It was supposed to be a balmy 4C... ::001::
LOL
Where in AU are you?
We headed out of Corryong to Wadonga at 7:30 this morning. Don't know much about this centigrade stuff, but our hands were FROZEN in about 40 kilometers. It was brutal until about 10:30. Warmed up nicely as we got out of the mountains.

Yea, the Euro version of the S10 didn't come with the heater. :(

It was a balmy 3.4C down there this morning (38.12 degrees Fahrenheit) ;D

I live in the Blue Mountains near Sydney. But work in Richmond, in the valley, so that's where the cold air goes at night. ::001::

My wife is laughing so hard she is crying.

And she punched me hard when she found out I made her ride in 38 degrees this morning. So thanks for the conversion. :(

You want to know about heat. Try the Ducati 1098. Impossible to ride in the City traffic in summer. The S10 is one of the best for this feature in my opinion. Not only is the radiator fan blowing at right angles away from the bike and the rider but the side shrouds direct a small amount of air on your legs in summer but provide protection from winter's chilly blast. Best of both worlds. But like any motor cycle, hot air rises so when stationary, it still feels warm. Hope this info helps you make the decision we all know is the right one. ::022::

The fan does make a really neat sound. I would far rather listen to the fan kicking in on the S10, than the tremendous clunk my 800 GS made going into 1st gear. I had several occasions where people in cars next to me, with their windows closed, would turn their heads and stare. The BMW dealer said the usual thing "they all do that; don't worry about it." :D

Now those that are on the left side right next to you, with their window open, will turn their heads away from the heat and close the windows :D

Not sure whats going on.. I wrote a long post to this topic yesterday and it never made it up on the board.. Here is the short post...

I was down in South Texas a few weeks ago on the ST, it had already started to get hot with all my gear on.. I felt the heat coming from the radiator. On the bike for four days, I started to think what I could do about what I was feeling. I started to mess around with that area of the bike. I would stop at gas stations and get 'supplies'.. Anyhow I have a couple ideas on a few little parts that I think are going to help a lot with the heat. Here in the next few weeks here in Texas its going to be well over 100* F everyday and the bike temp is going to peg out at 225+ every time I ride.. I'm looking to mock up my new real parts soon and then hope to make a few in Carbon. If they work out like I want them too I will offer them to ST owners. With my rigged 'mock up' it made a great difference... So hopefully this summer we can keep the excess heat off of us and keep the bike a bit cooler.. ::008::
