Well I dont operate like that, you tell me one thing when you mean another. If so you won't be seeing a lot of my money. They told me May I ordered early for it to be May now you tell me "oh we really meant July". Oh well it's only $500 bucks I won't go in the poor house over that. Lesson learned however don't go biting on these "PDP manufacturer programs" ::)

Oh well might just head to see what GSXR flavor I might want to ride this summer, new 750 sounds nice. ;D
I've never pre-ordered a motorcycle that wasn't available before. I wouldn't have done it this time except the boys who live over in the Outback seem to have really flogged the guts out of these things and they have held up well. For me, I think the ST is going to fill a lot of voids. I'll wait for it. In the mean time, my DR650 will scratch my itch(provided we can get the snow and ice off the roadways).

Same sad story, called my dealer in Daly City today and she informed me of an August delivery :( . I ordered the bike latter part of January. Grrr an additional three months do kinda suck, but I'll just have to brush up my dirt skills on the DR650 while I wait :).

Is it really the manufacturer that determines the classification or the insurance companies?
The insurance companies. They all have different policies and classification systems.

JULY ! AUGUST ! OH MY GAWD ! Screw corporate earth. I ordered second day they took orders. I was one who barraged Yamaha with emails to bring the damn thing to America. I figure Germans rip us off as revenge. Now the Japs too. I just got off my BMW 1200GS , the most expensive & trouble prone piece of crap I ever owned.........& now THIS. Did yamaha LIE thru it's teeth? Why did AMERICANS (Canadians too,eh) have to go thru this when the rest of the earth already got this bike? I'm gettin old & have motorcycled all over this continent on asphalt and dirt. Been lucky. After the recent BMW aggravation & now this, my mountain bicycle & Suzuki dirt bike are lookin better & better.Cheaper too. Am rethinking the whole damn thing. Yamaha DID this same bull-oney with the FJR. I waited til they fixed the heat problem & stopped this advance order crap before I bought one. Was a hell of a long wait. Some guys on advance order got theirs in WINTER. God Bless the B-29 & the boys who flew it..

After reading all this nonsense, I'm not sure if I was on the Super Tenere forums, or forums for the latest video game that just had the release date pushed back again. (Like, OMG, Star Wars TOR was just delayed again!! What do we do until then?). >:D

I was told by my dealer from the get go, the longer I waited to order, the longer the wait until delivery. I can understand those of you all who ordered first thing in September being ticked. Hopefully Yamaha will come up with some way to make the wait worth it. Every month I wait is more money I save on insurance or can put down on the ST (or play a Jedi in TOR when it finally come out. :)) ). Yeah, ask me in a few months after I'm tired of riding my WR250R on 200+ mile rides, and I'm most likely have a different response.

If it makes anyone feel any better, about a year ago I paid $$$$ for a Trijicon ACOG scope. Trijicon has my money, and has yet to make the scope. Their response is that they will get to making it when they get to making it and stop bugging them.

Remember guys, this is an early release 2012 model, so if it gets on your hands only slightly sooner than the rest of the 2012 Yamaha's make it here, you're ahead of the game.
Sorry, I don't see the bike's year to have any relationship to riding season!!!!! I want delivery to be as early as possible so that I can enjoy it longer.

My thoughts exactly :)

Man you really stirred up a storm with this delivery date discussion :)) After a good nights sleep I amd a little calmer today. As the world turns seems this is more often the case. We found out yesterday the Samsung washer we bought this past saturday at Lowes would be on backorder until middle of April ??? old washer is hanging on by a bearing :))

Yeah - didn't mean to, but thought others would be interested in the latest from Yamaha. ;)

You could always cancel your order and buy a LG.............. :D

Yawn....yeah, I got a June date on mine, I ordered Sep 15th. No big deal, I'll ride the FJR. I did the PDP thing on two FJR's and survived. Heck, one reason we're so pissed about all this is because we want the thing so badly. Good things come to those who wait...or something like that. As has been said here, they'll arrive, we'll ride them and love them and all will be forgiven.

Also, In the corporate world of manufacturing, many companies have been soundly thrashed financially over the last two years and no company wants more unsold inventory on hand. I don't blame Yamaha for trying to "pre-sell" these things. Remember, they brought the TDM bikes here, very nearly the same bike, and ended up selling them below cost over the next several years because no one knew what it was.

Re: Delivery Dates - My Dealer Says....

He just received written confirmation from Yamaha of August delivery for my order....I put down my deposit late Jan.

Yamaha did say they would make every effort to deliver earlier...but...

Dealer felt, though not told this by Yamaha, that I could get delivery as early as July.

I still got my bike and dealer said he would stand by his promised trade-in price, assuming tires and condition are as they were, in spite of additional miles I'd put on while waiting...you gotta like a dealer that says that.

If you need certainty, then there are other bikes to buy.
Not necessarily - depends on what you want. I saw a post a few days ago from a guy who'd just ordered a loaded GSA - will be two months before he gets it. This is a bike that's supposed to be available NOW. Will he chuck a wobbly and cancel if it takes 30% longer than the initial estimate.... hmm

Ok....you guys who have bikes to ride until the Tenere arrives, please quit rubbing it in. :'(

My dealer is saying August, so my brain is going through a major shift in terms of previous expectations. I may have to go get a cheap used dirt bike to get me through six months. Yamaha customer care registered my concerns and agree with me and say they're sorry. Need to reset my countdown clock I guess.

Trying to turn lemons into lemonade....the optimistic view is this gives you a chance to see what farkles work best, based on direct feedback.

Yeah, I know...you'd rather be writing trip reports....and, you will

Here is an update sent to dealers today:

Orders for your customers who submitted Super Ténéré deposits now
reflect the estimated month of delivery.
The delivery month can be viewed on YDS under the Sales tab and viewing
your Super Ténéré orders.

We will deliver the units sooner if production arrives sooner than expected.

Orders entered today are being scheduled for delivery the first week of
August, 2011. Enter your customer’s orders as soon as possible to secure
the earliest delivery date!

So, there it is. Don't blame your dealer, he gets his inventory and information from Yamaha.

Mine shows June delivery and if, as they say, production arrives sooner, I may get it sooner. If not, I'll be hoping for the early part of June. :)

So, are dealers obligated to enter your order in to Yamaha the day you put down deposit, or can they hold onto it and place the order when they're ready? Just curious, because I have not received an order # or any kind of letters from Yamaha on my order, placed on Feb 4.

You only placed your order last month, and there have been no letters since then. So there is nothing strange about you not receiving one. I ordered my bike right when the first letter came out (there have been 3) but did not receive the first one, only the subsequent ones. They are sending out the letters in mass mailings, not to individuals as they place orders

The only way I got my order number was to specifically call my dealer and ask for it. So if you want the number just call him. I'm sure he placed the order

Well, I guess they are not obligated, but they would be a poor businessman if they didn't. You won't get an order number from Yamaha, you have to ask your dealer for it.

Yamaha hasn't sent any new letters to customers since you ordered yours and the earlier ones really didn't tell us anything anyway.

Call your dealer and request your order number and ask if he will check the update on delivery.

My delivery time frame is July. I just got the info from my dealer over the phone. Sucks since I ordered sept. 8th. So much for early order early delivery. There was mention of a possible late June arrival but I am not getting to excited about that. Time to cancel my August reservations out west. I doubt I will be making that trip with a July arrival and no accessories yet on the bike. That is another complete problem.

Makes you wonder about this statement - since it is now 5 1/2 months since I ordered mine and I am supposed to have a July delivery.....

The statement about order today to secure your august delivery pisses me off even more. I was an early order also. Hell all this time and all I would have to do is order one today and have it by august. Way to go Yamaha. I am starting to believe this was a plan all along.
