Saw a post awhile back in regards to a dash shelf. Cardboard mock-up at this point but will be trying to make it out of .040 alluminum sheet. Sem products hot rod flat black paint will be the finish, seems to match the black on the bike quite well.
Outlines are the approx. edge of the sides and the instrument faces.
Going to use the outside doubler piece with a couple of captivated nylock nuts on the inside. Seems to clear all the important stuff an allows a small amount of room for my volt meter, powerlet outlet and maybe some future switches if needed. Also covers up that gap so I don't keep looking down and thinking something is missing.
I have access to a nice brake-shear-roller and when my finger gets better from being crushed a bit at work today I'll have at it. Those ER folks sure have some fine drugs..... ^-^ I'll keep you posted.

Looks very nice and functional. Are you considering selling them? I am interested.

Hadn't considered selling them at this point.
When I get one done and it proves out I'll post the pics. and go from there. Using .040 and going to try one out of .064 to see which works best. Hopefully next week.
Got to get my hand a bit better before I tackle the cutting -bending.
Looks like Jaxon may be onto one also.

Update on the dash shelf. Seems to fit fine and clear the cables, brake and clutch hose.
Needs the holes cut for the voltmeter and powerlet, a coat of black paint and no more gapping hole in the dash ::012::
Have to check with another local Tenere owner who has the side wind deflectors to see if the dash shelf can be made to work with them.

If you want to make a business out of it, I'll buy one from you.

That looks really good. I might still put some trim (like Trim-lok or similar) on that inner edge, but dang nice job! 8)

::026:: Looks great and as long as there is not an issue with the OEM wind deflectors, I'm interested.

Is there a flat surface on the outboard side of the OEM mounting points? If that's the case, mounting the plate and deflectors shouldn't be a problem.

I'm thinking with this plate in place you will be hearing the fan more often at very low speeds or standing still, due to reduction of some of that 'chimney' area. I think R3B (Rema) experienced something similar to that when he mounted a plate to block the wind from entering the lower part of that gap.

No bid deal though...I really like how the 'dash' is looking, and I'll be tuned-in to see what sorts of arrangments people come up with for mounting 'stuff.' ::008::

Looks like maybe the existing mounting holes in your dash shelf could be drilled to accept the wellnuts that are supplied with the wind deflectors. Then just slip the wellnuts thru the fairing and the shelf and tighten them together using the deflector on the outside and not use the piece of metal that you have it sandwiched together with.
Does this sound like it would work ?

Some very good ideas out there. Trim-lok around the edge would be good, would probably have to reduce the radius a bit to allow for it. The wind flow, cooling issue is a one I won't know for sure till the hot weather returns, but a slight loss of airflow is a possibility.
Mounting without the outer doubler piece and using the well nuts will be checked out.
This was one of those projects that due to wanting to go ahead and do the electrical add ons I needed something to mount a few things.
Can go ahead now with the Denali lights, heated grips, powerlet, voltmeter, and Eastern Beaver fuse panel when I have the bike taken apart.
Good input, I'll post a pic. when its painted and mounted.

That is really looking sharp and will solve most of my mounting problems, I'm ready to put in my order ::012:: ::012:: ::012::
Please let me know when this will be available for public consumption.
It is looking so sharp that I'm about ready to order one as well even though I have NOTHING planned to mount in it!!!

Great! I'll be looking forward to this as the mods you mentioned are ones I plan to do... especially if you mount a row of three Denalis. ::024::
