I had a great time at the Colorado rally last year, and remember some talk of having the next big rally in Arkansas.
The Ozarks are beautiful, I've attended a few street rides in northern Arkansas, east of Rogers, near Beaver Lake.
Beautiful country, and I'm sure there are some great trails up there.

Is it time to start discussing options? Dates? And hitting up them lucky folks that live in Arkansas for some ideas?
With winter coming on, and the passes in Colorado closing due to snow, I'm starting to curl up next to the bikes in the garage, and thinking of next year...

We romped through the Ozarks on the way home from the MotoGP in Austin. Good time. Nice roads. We didn't have much time to explore. From what I saw of the pics from Colorado, this would be a very different experience.

Yeah hoping it's not unbearably cold next week, should have a good time. I'm worried how big tex is going to handle that first leak in the morning when it's 35* :D

I remember last year running into frost in the morning on some of the shaded curves. My butt pucker level went sky high...and we were a week earlier.

Hoping to do a little "exploring" this time, the hardball roads are well known. Hoping to have some gpx routes if this comes to fruition for next year. I'm open to what others have, too!

Ya gotta admit, the Ouray area is like the mecca & medina for the S10. Not many places can hold a candle to that region for big adv bikes. Not to downplay NW AR at all, it's got it's own uniqueness, just in a different way.

Ark-Kan-Sauce would be terrific - however - in June July August the heat and humidity would be "stifling".

No elevation would prove to be very hot and sticky.

I would love to go to Ark...i have many friends there and family close by and this roadway is probably the finest in the country.

it's also very near this MoBike friendly motel -- stayed there many many times.

I have been riding in Arkansas for well over a decade several times a year at the very least, street, dual sport, and real off road. I have done some dual sport and street riding around the Vail, Co area and did the Continental Divide ride in 2006 and while cool with very good scenery, I find the actual amount of good off pavement and pavement riding to be more plentiful and a lot closer together in Arkansas than in Co.

As long as the turnout is what it was in Ouray, how can we go wrong?

Tenere City for week. Just amazing.

I generally go in April, September, October, and November. The last 3-4 years I have been down in the 1st half of Sept, it has been pretty nice temperature wise compared to previous years (I have pretty much been in Ar riding every September since 2001) and I did a lot of off pavement the previous year on the tenere (where I was testing out the crash bars, pic below), but none this year. This Sept was cooler than the year before.

Howdy,
A couple of thoughts/requests: If possible please try not to schedule it around a holiday, between the family stuff and the uncertainty of finding accommodations on the ride down especially if you have no hard schedule and are traveling long distances. And have you ever thought about holding the event on Tues., Wed. and Thurs.? That gives people three days to get there and three days to get back plus it cuts down on traffic and crowds during the event.
Later,
Norm

I agree with keeping the dates away from holidays, and second the thoughts on scheduling mid week for the long distance travelers.
The last time I was in Ar-Kansas, was June, and while it was warm, I didn't find the heat, or humidity stifling or unbearable.
As for the time of year, if we are going to avoid the warmer months, I would vote for September rather than April. Just my opinion.
I Appreciate the folks that are taking time to go explore, and possibly lay out some routes.
I think with its central location, we may possibly be able to attract MORE riders to the event than we had in Ouray :)

Hi,
Me again, one other aspect is that mid week "stuff" is usually cheaper, IE accommodations, attractions, etc. :) :) :)

I am retired so the time of week doesn't have a big impact on me. The goal should be to get the most riders to attend... I agree with the "middle of the week".
Month of the event... I am a warmer weather rider. Prefer 85* with clear blue skies but can do 100*.
My minimal trip (out n back) mileage would 5,000 miles. Guessing another 2,000 miles. So this will not be a "week" trip for me. Will be camping and moteling.
Vertigo was in control for the last three months and hopefully will be gone or to a minimum by next Spring.
