Surely you recognize the top photo as Mount Rushmore National Memorial near Keystone South Dakota. The other 2 are from the Crazy Horse Memorial near Crazy Horse SD. The Crazy Horse Memorial has been under construction for almost 70 years. The history of the construction of both makes for some very interesting reading. Or better yet go there and take the tours. The Crazy Horse Memorial is kind of a tourist trap, but still interesting. These photos are confusing me. Please identify them.
There is an outstanding documentary of Mt Rushmore I watched on PBS. So interesting and much history I had no idea of. Gave me more respect and appreciation for the monument.... The history of the construction of both makes for some very interesting reading...
I don't know if I watched the same one. I was surprised to see that the current design, is not the original design. . . . all because of the rock. There is an outstanding documentary of Mt Rushmore I watched on PBS. There is a small movie theater there with a documentary about the construction. The show runs over and over as part of a self guided tour. They also have an evening lighting ceremony (in season) where the monument is lit up. They invited all military veterans to come up on stage to participate. We have gone there several times, usually in September. The crowds are gone and the weather is cooler. We also went to the buffalo round up at nearby Custer State Park...good time. There is an outstanding documentary of Mt Rushmore I watched on PBS. So interesting and much history I had no idea of.
