Because wind buffeting is unbearable. It ruines your ride, you cannot enjoy a ride on your bike if there is (a fair amount of) buffeting.
::026:: Over 80MPH indicated I feel like my head is in a paint-mixer. It is the ONLY thing about this bike I don't like. Still trying to figure out which way to go with this. I don't like the looks of the ginormous screens, so I'm gonna start with Wasp's adjuster bracket and see if I can find a position that calms the buffeting. It is quite maddening...

I had Wasps bracket and now have the Madstad bracket. In my opinion they are pretty much the same. One nice thing about the Madstad is you can mount a GPS on it.

Even with the bracket and the stock shield I still get some buffeting. And if the wind is blowing from the quarter or side it is really bad.
I used the Parabellum 24 with the Wasp bracket and it did very well on the buffeting, but I was looking through it. I really didn't like that in the rain and tried laying it back and it did work somewhat.

For me, I would use a 22 shield with the bracket for all around use. I'm waiting on the V shield review before I buy another shield.
By the way, I also had a Calsi and was not impressed with the finish of the shield. The edges were rough cut and not what I expect for the money. Ymmv

I am running a stock screen-low position with a mra spoiler attached;also run the wind wings in cool weather. The spoiler came off a fz1 with a bad screen so I put it on my KLR650 ,it made a huge difference so when I got the Ten on it went. This one was the wrong profile for the YAMAHA screen but a angle grinder and a file made it exceptable.I also recently put on a madstad mount, only two short rides with it so far,ran it about an inch ,maybe two above stock, with shield about straight up.If I raised it any Higher there was to much air underneath for cold weather but this will be good for warm air with screen tilted back and wings removed. The MRA spoiler isn`t cheap but it works and is adjustable.I`m 5`10`` with the seat ln low position.

I ordered the yamaha OEM tall when the bike came in . It's okay but the backward slope doesn't do much better then the original little one. A S10 riding buddy got the adjustable bracket to use with his Yam Tall screen and likes it better. I gave up and bought the Givi tall. I could tell it was better in less than a mile. It deflects the wind up over me better and isn't as noisy. I'm 5'7" and can see just over the top. A Corbin seat is a hair shorter than the yam stock seat, which puts me slightly lower. The Givi was $135 from Comp Acc and is considerably thicker than the Yamaha offers. I'll know more once I have ridden with it all day. But it is already better than the Yamaha tall.

Consequently, if somebody out there wants to try a Yam tall, I'll make them a good deal. Perfect cond, no scratches. MW

It works with stock mounts. No problem.

I have one coming in a few days.
Thanks stevepsd. Can you let me know how it works for you? Also where did you purchase it?
Best Regards.

PowerBronze is very nice looking. I found that the stock screen with WASP adjuster, I was never able to get rid of all the bad air. Solved it by accident when I found an old large madstad screen for the F650GS twin (left over from wife's bike which she sold) and cut it down.

Please show pictures mounted of the powerbronze when you get it!

I went with the Madstad brackets with thier 20" spyder shield and it's remedied any buffeting issues that I had.

Hey guys,

I understand what you mean by "buffeting", that's the one thing that drove me NUTS on my old Vstrom. Like someone tapping the top of your helmet all the time.

When I had my BMW GSA, it had "winglets" on it and I LOVED that windscreen setup, so I ordered the Yamaha side deflectors when I got my S10. How many of you guys who have been experiencing the buffeting effect have tried 'em?

I have NO buffeting issues with my Givi / Yamaha Side Deflector setup. Maybe there's something to just adding the deflectors??

Agree on the GSA wind screen setup. Perfect out of the box. I dont even bother to lower my helmet screen.
Maybe something to the side deflectors. Worth looking into for those that searching for a solution.

Yep, that's how I like to ride too DockingPilot, with my shield up and sunglasses on. That's how I ride my S10 now too with the side deflectors and Givi screen. ::003::

im up in the air between calsci and parrabellum. i cut down an old one to try out size. i didnt sand the edges or fine tune the bottom yet. it is about 3" wider on each side and 4" taller. i went for a ride and it was 100% improvement up to 75mph. after that is is a big improvement but not quiet enough for me. i think i will fine tune this and sand it down and keep an eye out for the calsci or parabellum L.

6'-3 tall, 33" pants inseam...bought the standard Givi... mounted on the bottom holes, better although not perfect. Will try it on the top holes ... probably will need the wind defectors.

Before you buy anything else or try anything else... try spacing the top of the windscreen forward. I use longer bolts, the next size nut, and rubber washers on both sides of the nut. Surprising what a 5/16" spacer will do.

I had a Madstad on mt DL1000 and it worked very well which is about the same as the spacers.

I have the Powerbronze windscreen and run it in the lowest position. For the summer I am thinking of going back to the stock windscreen in the higher position and spaced the same.

The Powerbronze does have distortion when looking in front of the Tenere through the windscreen. I think the Givi is the windscreen that does not have the distortion but you can ask LodiDon or FireFighter about that.

I bought my Powerbronze direct (UK) and they charged me $1 shipping.

If the Prowerbronze was an 1" wider on each side I would be happier in cold / wet weather.

I have the large CalSci screen and really like it. No noticeable buffeting with this one. I am 5'10" and do quite a bit of high speed highway riding.
