Never tried a Battle Wing before, so I was curious how long it would last. As the photo shows, it's beyond dead at 7,475 miles.

I was happy with the performance of the tire. Worked surprisingly well on dirt and light mud. Of course I don't know how much of that to credit the tire and how much credit should go to the Yamaha TCS system. The TCS does allow more power to be put to the ground without useless spinning. So nice to twist the throttle and have the bike go faster, rather than just spinning in place like the Strom often did. I suspect the bike gets the bulk of the credit, but the tire did work well, too.

Replaced this rear an Anakee II that I had purchased for my old Strom that I never got around to installing. We'll see how that does. Still have 50% left on the front, and I've never been one to worry about a matched set. One thing I did notice is the Battle Wing was much harder to get off the rim. It seems the side wall is significantly stiffer than the Anakee. Not sure what that will mean in ride or tire life, but about to find out.

Good to hear you got that many miles. What tire pressure(s) did you run? How many miles/percentage was the bike loaded?

Pressure ranged from 38 to 41lbs. It traveled a lot of territory, from the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Cabot Trail on Nova Scotia. Montreal to New River Bridge in WV, it's seen some cool stuff in the last 3 months.

Estimated use
0-700 miles - West Virginia style paved twisty, smooth and rough paved back roads. Cases installed and loaded with less than 20 lbs.
700-5300 miles - Fully loaded side case + 30 lbs rear seat/rack. 80% paved back roads to Nova Scotia/Montreal/New England. 20% interstate.
5300-7475 - mixed load 20lb to 50lb. West Virginia paved twisties, smooth and rough paved back roads: 80%
Dirt roads (little mud): 10%
Interstate: 10%

That is the standard profile I expect to put the Anakee through, so the main difference will be temps much colder than the last 3 months. Let the comparison begin.

Forget the tire. You only go 10 miles to work. That's impressive.

I did forget rider weight. I'm guessing with full riding gear I tip the scales at about 200lbs.

Dad, that is a good writeup and probably the max for the average traveler. Because of the winters I am sure your roads are rough and attacked your tires.

Bloke, your rear tire looks very much like mine at 5,180.

Other than fire trails I have not been off road. The rest is freeways; twisties in Gold Country / River Roads / Wine Country mountains; and Sierra passes. Have not carried any weight to speak of.

No offense...but I hate you.

My commutes is 45 miles each way through Washington DC area traffic. More than 30 red lights between my house and work. Did I mention I hate you?

I gota laugh, I have the same mile commute... pristine wilderness, two lanes, clean air and if I pass everything I overtake (ten vehicles, maybe) it is a pretty quick ride. There are spots that I can max the SupaT out - 215kph or soooo, makes for a nice stress relieving ride home after a grinding day in the orifice. Did I mention that there is seldom any law enforcement encountered along the way and no traffic control lights. oh well... to bad it is snowing out or I would go for a rip... guess I will have to wait until April ::001::

We need some pictures posted from some of the riders in TX. They have the worst chip/seal roads (worse than CO even) that just eats tires.

My commute is dreadful at a little less than 7 miles...it actually does take more time dealing with riding gear on each end than the ride itself. :D

Alright, too much energy to hate all of you. My shortest commute in the last 25 years was about 25 minutes. Longest was 75 miles each way. Let's just call me envious of you short distance commuters.

At the moment, I work from home which means my morning commute is walking downstairs, grabbing a Red Bull out of the fridge, and firing up Skype for my 10am stand-up meeting.
I'll probably be back at Intel in January. That's a 50 mile round-trip. 45 minutes in the morning. 75 minutes heading home in the evening.
If I don't ride, I usually drive my wife's Corvette.

Even at that on bad weather days it can take close to an hour to travel 3 miles believe it or not.
Unfortunately I have no problem believing that. An average of 3 MPH driving around here is as rare as I would like it to be. The worst I did was last January when it took 8 hours to go the last 2 miles home. That was extreme even for here.
