a poll is good except its a yes/ no/ maybe and doesn't show who's interested by name so if it does get made how do you contact the potential buyers

I thought that polls on advrider can be set up to show who posted. Not sure about here. People could post their names if that couldn't be done. Won't prevent the peanut gallery from weighing in but it might reduce the static...

if the mods want to step in and change this to a poll i have no issues with that at all as long as it shows the members name who have voted so at the end i have a list to work from for the manufacturer...

the thread on advrider is fine, members over there are just simply stating put me down as a #2 etc. which i do and thank them

Re: Over sized Safari tank for the Super Tenere

I'm already down as interested. I'm interested because almost every ride I do here in Oz on the S10 I have to think and plan for fuel stops. Not all dots on the map have fuel, and many that did, no longer do as old fuel storage tanks reach they useby and are not being replaced.

I'm used to 6-700 km range on my DR650, normally a tank a day, and have 1300 kms range in my 4wd. A convenient day to day 6-700 kms range on the S10 would be nice for me, not essential, as I don't take is as remote as my other vehicles, but if it meets my threshold range, style price equation, I'll take one.

Why those who aren't interested need to convince the rest of us that we really shouldn't be either defeats me.

We can add a poll, but we don't have the option of showing who voted for what.

if you can do that, that would be great and add all the votes already in, people who want to be anonymous can, but i will add a note to first post that it would be greatly beneficial if they did state their name to make contacting them easier later

I like this thread. Keep it going! Interesting discussion. Also would not mind seeing a larger tank available..... ::012::

RTWpaul, not being rude, but this is a pointless thread! I get where you are coming from and that it is relevant and important to you. the fact that others may be interested is a moot point, because wishing something and willing it does not make it happen. You may well try Safari tanks and offer them some "interested parties" numbers, but that ultimately is to satisfy your desire and possible need for an extended range tank, most that put their hands up, have and would probably do without and if the need for one on a once on a lifetime trip opens up then I'm sure they, like you, would find a temporary solution to address that issue. I hope that you find a willing builder to make a tank for you, sincerely. But I would also like to say that berating others on the forum for not whole-heartedly backing your idea is somewhat akin to "throwing you toys out the pram". Safe travels!
I have also in the past spoken to Safari once when I first got the bike and secondly when the Triumph tank came out. I am interested so are others so how can it be pointless thread and why are folk getting wound up because they are not. I like the stock seat but I have not said others should or that it is pointless or clouded /hijacked a perfectly simple question.
There a number of rides I'd like to do that are not on sealed roads and are 485km plus but more to the point I hate any bike dictating when I stop, it's a Roge thing, I would like a bigger tank. Oh and $900 is cheaper and more desirable than bmw or ktm.

I'm glad this is not a religious thread.

Poll has been added; everyone who has already replied will need to vote. I put my vote in when I finished it ::008::

My first sentence was in response to the OP's " pointless comment" to any post that disagreed with his view, I was being factious, if you read the rest of my post then you would see I did in fact understand his viewpoint and his desire for a larger tank. If the OP was not so denigrating to all those that were not in his corner then I would not even have responded. For me personally, a jerry can or aux fuel tank would suffice, I see little need for a larger tank mounted all the time, that's just me, not the other 30 odd people on this forum of over 5000 that want one.

The OP's not asking for people to understand his POV or be in his corner, and he didn't launch this thread to start a debate on the merits of big tanks vs other methods of carrying more fuel. He simply wants only those who are potentially interested in a big tank to post up so he can get a head count for Safari... ::024::

Re: Over sized Safari tank for the Super Tenere

100% correct

This is not just directed at Safari, if they say no, there are other options: Clarke, IMS, Acerbis or the many smaller tank makers that might be interested
