Anyone mount an FZ-1 Fuze block?

I was totally uncomfortablel working with my FuzeBloc as it came with no instructions. Then I realized they had a website and after a few mintues their i totally understood what was going on. I higly recommend a trip to the website for anyone who has not wired one of thes before.

I installed my FZ-1 last night and everything went smooth. All I have left to do is wire a SAE through an always-on circuit so I can hook up a charger if necessary.

Have you guys mounted the FZ-1 with velcro or just jammed it above the tool kit, behind the wires? It sits nice and solid without velcro but I'm worried about vibration and wire chaffing.

I just "jammed it" in the space above the tool kit. I'll keep an eye on it and if it looks like it is moving around a lot, I'll secure it somehow to prevent damage.

Are you guys grounding your accessories to the FZ-1 Fuzeblock, or just finding a frame ground close to where they are installed? I'm thinking if I grounded things elsewhere I would only have wires coming out of two sides, instead of three, and this would make placement easier.

I ground all of my accessories to the PC-8 fuse block under the thought that I am running the power to the fuse block anyway and most of the accessory cables have the power and the ground together. Your point of one less side with wires exposed is well taken and it may expand the possible areas where you could mount the fuse block without concerns of future access to one side of it.

My FZ-1 is still waiting for installation. I did drill and mount my powerlet socket (low profile) and routed the wire over towards the cig outlet. I think I may use the power from the stock outlet to power the relay for the FZ-1. Benefits of this are that you can use the grip and light sockets for their intended purpose, unaltered and the cig power outlet can be wired with a capacity to be useful.

I was wondering if anyone "secured" the fz1 somehow - I put it in the same place and it seems to fit snuggly there. I haven't pulled the cover off since I installed it, but I'll check on it in a week or two or until fuses start blowing :D

Switchback - is this as easy as replacing the fuse in the bikes fuse box with a higher amp fuse, and adding a relay in-line?

To be honest, I haven't looked in to it. The power outlet is already switched, which I do not want, so I will use that source to power the relay. I will then run an unswitched line to both the stock and aftermarket Powerlet outlets.

It may be possible to increase the fuze amperage for the stock outlet but I do not know what else is on that circuit. On my Tiger the socket was wired into the same fuze as dash lights and such. Wouldn't want the potential to damage anything else.

I will just use a strip of 3m Dual-Lock (like velcro).

Finally installed my FZ-1 today.
[list type=decimal]
[*]Used a step drill to put a Powerlet into the dash opposite of the STD socket. I used the low clearance Powerlet which comes with a 6" lead and a connector.
[*]Made a harness to connect the Powerlet and the STD socket to the same circut and ran it down the side by the toolkit.
[*]Put a new connector on the STD socket so that I could tap the switched power for the FZ-1 relay.
[*]Used the original connector on the STD socket and made another harness by opening up the original terminal with a Dremel cutting tool, soldering in the new wire for the switched power source, reassembled the connector, and combined it with the other harness with electrical tape
[*]Used a battery tender cable for the un-switched power from the battery. (nice to know that the bikes clock was not reset when the power was disconnected)
[*]Connected everything to the FZ-1
[*]Fastened the FZ-1 with 3M Dual-Lock on the flat area by the battery (at an angle).

Symtec grip heaters and Warm and Safe Troller coming.
