Hey Judd, I remember you... Glad to see you got the bike, even if it was nip and tuck for awhile. :D

Yep, I can give you a hand with the FZ1. Just PM me and we'll set up a time..

Electrical stuff is not my best hand either! I take it once you have the FZ-1 hooked up, all you have to do is hook-up the positive and negative from the device to the fz-1 and install the right fuze. Which leads me to this question...Do you have to disconnect the negative at the battery everytime you want to add a device?? ::)

The quick answer is No.... You can pull the main 30 amp fuse if you want, but I don't really worry about it.

Ordered mine today. Looks like the way to go. Gonna get some looms/connectors/etc. from eastern beaver to make sure all the powerlets/grips/accessories are installed as good as possible. This bike is a keeper.

I just installed mine this eve. I went a little farther up than some pics I have seen here. I think I got a more solid contact point and I possibly more weather resistant. I am sure it breaks some Super T code but I thought it was funny a Harley pin terminal was able to be used to complete the switched circuit from the factory heated grip harness to the Fuzeblock.

Nice job and good inputs from everyone. This has been on my 'to do' list for quite some time. I was thinking about putting the FZ1 on my little thumper but didn't have much room to speak of. I really like the location used in the above post.

For those of you like to run lots of big, power hungry lights, make sure you calculate carefully. I say this because the totally current handling capacity of the FZ1 is less than the sum of each 10A circuit within. Further, you can easily overload and individual circuit by connecting a pair of the big incandescents (Hellas, etc). I'm planning on going with the Denali LED's or equivalent, so that won't be an issue.

Also, for the guy who brought up the DIY, wire your own relay option, you might want to check the price of the FZ1 before embarking on the project. The no-nonsense, direct connections and and built-in relay along with the ability to change any of the circuits from switched to unswitched just my changing the repective fuse positon make it well worth the price, IMO.

Welcome aboard Tremor38 and thanks for the information. Don't forget to introduce yourself and add to your profile.

I also like the location of the above post. Does anyone have photos of the wiring, connectors, and connections? Looking to get a fuse block installed and accessories connected so I can travel.

Anyone have a picture of the location of the heated grip connection they're using for the switch/trigger for the relay? BTW, this thread has been great help, Thanks!

Go to page 2 of this thread, and the 5th post from the bottom. The poster is Colorider.
You will see the white plug and it came from under the large loom of wires just above and behind. Get a flashlight and look for them behind the loom, then dig them out..

Just got my Eastern Beaver P-C8 fuse block and wiring harnesses, that was fast, and from Japan too, Ha, maybe you should have shipped our bikes to us we would have got them sooner :). Excellent service. Will post install when I carve out the time. Thanks again.

Looking forward to the PC-8 install. Can you take photos and post them?

Did you buy any other items from James?

Will do, Tim, maybe this weekend, if I am lucky and can get a garage pass, if you know what I mean. I also bought the Beaver harness for connecting the PC-8 and I bought the double horn harness for a couple of horns to mount as well.

A couple months ago I was digging through the garage and found a container that had a bunch of new stuff from 3-6 years ago that I hav e never used. One of the items is the Electrical Connection Universal Power Plate http://www.amotostuff.com/product/02202.html . Not sure where I got but probably in a trade. Does anyone know if it can ssafely used on the Super Tenere? I am still considering the PC-8 and James harness(s) but want to know if this can be used. Thanks.

That looks like a nice unit that would work just fine on the Tenere. The only thing it doesn't have is a cover so you will have to be careful where you mount it. Behind the right cover by the battery or tool kit would be good.

Help!

Rod, or anyone else that has added a fuse block, help.

I have installed my PC-8 and connected my GPS, turned on the bike, no power to the GPS. I have a feeling that I have the wrong switched wire (using the 4 pole unused grip heater plug).

Rod's thread says use the blue/black wire. referring to the attached picture, I tapped into the dark blue wire that has a black stripe running the length of the wire and a gold (green) band around the wire. Is this the right one?

Thanks.

Well never mind, I went back through the wiring and found that the Posi-Tap (not) part with the channel that the wire fits into, had not made contact with the wire. Problem solved. Whew!

Good to hear you resolved the problem. Did you take other photos of the PC-8 install?
