Coverage 250/500/100. Collision $500 deductible. Other than collision $500 deductible.

$89 per year at Progressive.

Yes, that's not a typo. The number made me so nervous I called twice. The first person said since it's an XT it was classified as a dirt bike. I explained it's going to be used on the road more than 90% of the time. "My supervisor said call it a dirt bike."

I called back 20 minutes later with the model number written on my sales order. New guy, he ends up putting me on hold, comes back and thanks me for an interesting evening. He's been on Google, looked up the bike and had a meeting with three managers about it. The sales guy on the phone wants to call it a street bike, but the managers overrule him and tell him it's a dirt bike. So my $89 price is correct since this is the fourth bike on my policy.

I asked what happens when Progressive figures out they have way under billed me? He said if that happens they will correct it at the next premium renewal. I asked if it changes the coverage any being street vs dirt, he said no, it only affects the rate paid.

Honestly I'm still a little uncomfortable, but I've worked very hard to get them to raise my rates, but they won't do it.

Hey, if you've supplied them with the correct VIN and displacement, it's up to them to apply the correct premium. Just enjoy it until they figure it out.

I hear you, but I was on the phone for about 30 minutes with them. Went over the engine size, the price of the bike, how it will be used...everything. The guy on the phone understood what I was saying, he even agreed with me. He argued those points to the three Progressive managers. They said, it's a dirt bike. I don't believe me calling again will do much good.

$270 from progressive. Still not in their computer so it took a few minutes. Not too shabby. Thats less than half of what my VFR was!
Using Progressive (as recommended by USAA, my primary carrier) I was paying $300 for my '07 VFR, replaced it with the ST and am now paying $220 - Saving me $80/year.

Also with Progressive and mine went down from the FJR. The girl on the phone said they were classifying it as a dirt bike, which is a less expensive class.

I have Progressive for my other bikes already. I just called and added the S10 to my policy. This policy ends on September 7. For the remainder of the policy term they wanted $23.31.

Michigan has a fixed insurance surcharge called MCCA that's about $140 annually, per vehicle, that the insurance companies have to collect and turn over to the state. And I know Progressive has a minimum policy amount for their share; IIRC it is $95. So it costs me $235 annually for an old bike like the TDM, whether I get collison/comp or not. Where I am going with this is that the minimum policy with Progressive is gonna be $235 annually even for a bike that's practically worthless and has liability only.

And if they're only charging me $23 for the 34 days left on my policy term, I'm guessing the S10, with full collision and comp, is still right at that minimum policy price.

I guess I will see what they hit me for in a month when it's time to renew.

State Farm quoting me $ 308.00 a year. I am a 49 YO male with all my insurance with them - dont remember the amount of my limits but they are pretty high. Doesn't seem too bad from here....

48 Yr old male, SafeCo Ins, 500CSL with $500 ded. paid about $580/year for full coverage. Three other bikes on the policy at the moment, though hope to eliminate two of those shortly. Wife's '11 F650GS is about the same cost. Location makes a huge difference in rates. Those Yoopers only get to ride about 2 months out of the year, so cheap rates. As to the CA guy, I hope he has decent levels of coverage. I'd hate to have an incident with the legal minimum in CA!

meloche monnex, $520/yr. $1M liability, income replacement, full replacement value, etc. not barebones coverage. I did however go with $1000 deductable as claiming anything less than a $1000 accident will cost more in premiums anyway.
