I hope and pray I get to do that before the end of my career! Now that is a want that I need to accomplish! I've boxed many a vehicle in so they can't get out from where they parked, illegally. It's fun to "interact" with them when they come out and ask ME to move while we're treating someone or there's some other active incident activity going on. My usual response falls along the lines of, "Sure, I'll move just as soon as this person's situation, which is not looking good right now, allows me to stop doing my job so I can no longer inconvenience you. While you're waiting, go stand over there next to that red curb. If you can;t wait, I;ll get a police officer over here to help you pass the time."

I understand the OP's need to vent. We all can be his support group. But is it really Yamaha's fault?

Before the catastrophe in Japan last month I never planned to order any Yamaha accessories until the receive dates were firmed up. Now, everything has changed. Has been said before, it'll get here when (and if) it gets here. Until then, relax and enjoy life.

Instead of crying about my new motorcycle, I sent some money to the Red Cross for Japan.
I visited the eagle site yesterday and there were two chicks and an egg that looked about ready for hatching. Today there are two chicks, no egg and a bit of feathers. Maybe the number three chick didn't make it.

As far as the whining about late arrival of bike and accessories, I can't believe my eyes. According to the demographics of the what's your age? poll, the majority of us are a bit over the hill and maybe should think and talk like the supposed seasoned citizens we are. And for Yamaha to send us a T-shirt to tell us their sorry, gimme a break! I'm sorry for them. Today yet another earthquake!
Actually, they gave us side bags and liners with the first FJRs and that was nice. The Euros had to pay for their luggage, so things have flipped around this time.

I don't want to give false hope, but if I were in Yamaha's shoes, even without it being their fault I would think they'd try and throw in something at the end of it all as a thank-you to all the folks who were patient. Even something small like a free T-shirt would go a long way with soothing over customers. I have no idea if they've ever done something like this before but it sure wouldn't be a bad idea.
A friend of mine had his FJR delivered EARLY in one of the PDP programs for that bike. Yamaha apologized, and gave him a set of saddlebag liners as compensation for the "inconvenience".

So... I wouldn't be surprised if there was a little bonus at the end of the process for those with the patience to wait it out. I don't need it or expect it, would just like things to get back to normal at Yamaha and for the Japanese people as quickly as possible.

A mutual friend of ours here cancelled his order (and losing his deposit) instead buying a ktm adv 990 off the floor. That is everyone's option here.

I'll get my new bike when it's delivered...and with everything Japanese manufacturs are facing, I'll say "Great....and ride off into the sunset. Hard for me to criticize a nation where every citizen has undoubtably lost a family member or friend.

The additional wait has allowed me to work on my farkle list a little more. I'm able to get almost everything purchased ahead of time and the credit card cleared BEFORE taking delivery of the bike itself.

Same here. I might even be able to save up enough to take delivery without having to take out a loan. I will have a third entering college this Fall, so that remains to be seen. ???

Wow,, If I had 3 in college, I would be lucky to afford tires, let alone a new bike.. :'(

It is amazing what some companies will do to avoid being on time for deliveries......It isn't everyone that goes as far as earthquakes! How truly inconsiderate of them. (there, I got it out of my system >:D)

Like some, I haven't ordered anything yet, at least not bike specific. And when I do, I'm leaning heavily towards the SW-Motech stuff carried by TwistedThrottle. They have a large amount of items for the S10, and if you carefully add it up, they come out cheaper. I'll probably buy the skid plate, engine/side cover guards and most likely at least the frame for the boxes from them, as they can be completely removed, with only unobtrusive lugs remaining. I already have the NR 850 soft bags, will probably go with them for this year, add hard bags later.

Like the Yamaha accessories offered for my WR250R, I like other's stuff better. If I could get a bash plate for the S10 from Flatland Racing, I'd really be happy: the one for my WRR is exactly what I wanted, and has certainly saved me the cost of a water pump and side cases already, multiple times. After looking really hard at all of the factory offerings, I'm most likely going with TwistedThrottle. There are other suppliers as well.
So, while I can certainly see the advantage of a good vent, just cancel the order and go elsewhere. This is supposed to be enjoyable, not aggravating. Go find enjoyment.

+1. I just keep imagining myself on the bike and thinking of how fast the memory of the wait will fade once I'm on it and enjoying it.

No you'll be right, they are all made from oil so gas will still be "cheaper". :p ;D

But you ride bikes do you have a head start already, umm except for the tires umm yeah :-[

+1 - Well Said. I've been waiting 6 1/2 months for my S10, so a few more months aren't going to kill me. I'm actually enjoying the wait. It's kind of like being a kid waiting for Christmas - the waiting is part of the fun. Besides, I've still got my Wee-Strom, KLR650, and WR250R in the garage, so I'll be riding something this year, while I wait for my Raven S10!

I'm at 6 1/2 months right now and figure another 3 to go. Sure, it's a long wait - but it has allowed me to research farkles and order them at a more leisurely pace. By the time the bike gets here (in July hopefully), I will have all my planned farkles ready to go (and paid for).

:)

For the few here who have expressed frustration over the wait and speak of a wait of 6,7,8, or 9 months, I would remind you that delivery was not even supposed to begin until May, so the "wait" clock really does not even start until after May. If you were fortunate enough to get your order in early, you knew that going in. If you got your order in before December, and you take delivery in June, then I'd say that your "wait" is less than a month. And, as some have mentioned, it is a 2012 model of a bike that was originally not even intended for the USA market.

All of that time prior to May is more like "anticipation." Keep in mind that we will likely be the envy of our various riding groups for having the first US model of this line. Hopefully it will catch on here and the bike will become popular enough that it makes it to the standard dealer inventory. I believe that depends on how much we get out there and show our bikes off to potential future buyers. Even better is that we are not working out all of the new design bugs because it has already been in production for two model years prior to reaching us, so while many others will see it as a new and fascinating design, we (hopefully) won't be faced with those nuisance issues that riders of new designs sometims face.

Well put. And I'm thinking, and that's a dangerous thing, that since the Tenere is a "sold" model, once they get going again, the emphasis will be on its production as opposed to directing limited resources to models that may sit on the showroom floor for an indefinite period of time. That kind of makes sense to me, but then ..... R
