I have two of the Yamaha Accessory Packages ordered. The parts guy at the shop has been telling me the computer said estimated shipping date was 4-5-11. Great!!!! Today the computer says Back Ordered NO ESTIMATED SHIPPING DATE. Unreal, this is getting so old. This company does not have there act together.

I'm going to be ordering some OEM goodies but will wait now until further clarification can be had from Yammi.

Hopefully, they will ship late this week or next week. According to the news report on their website, manufacture and packaging of overseas model parts was suspended until Monday, so that would put them 1 - 2 weeks behind. I still think that you'll get these way before the bike arrives.

Your frustration is noted and understood. However, keep in mind what this small country had just endured. And continues to endure. It will be a very long time before everything gets back to normal, if ever. They are relying on other organizations and businesses and suppliers and shippers ... many of whom may have been severely affected by this recent earthquake and subsequent disasters. Give 'em a chance. They might surprise you. R

No I'm ticked off because for two months I have been told the shipping date was 4-5-11 now no estimated shipping date at all To get my accessory package would be seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. For anouther thing putting a ship date on a shops computer has nothing to do with Japan that was put on there by Yamaha USA and if they don't know what is going on they shouldn't get peoples hopes up.

You're ticked off because Yamaha won't ship accessory packages for a bike you don't have?

Don't let them get to you. I understand where you're coming from. I talked to a district manager the other day, and he and others are not happy with the way Yamaha has handled the order situation. Of course this was pre- quake. I understand the loss and the huge disaster the people of Japan are going through and my heart goes out to them.
I also understand, manufacturing is their means of making money and they need to get that jump started asap..

No. As long as they arrive by the time the bike does, why does it matter when the accessories ship? Can you use them without the bike?

Yeah and two months ago things were quite a bit different than they are now. 2 months ago Japan was not dealing with thousands of dead or missing, entire towns destroyed, nuclear plant explosions, poisoned food, radioactive fallout, severe power shortages and economic catastrophe. Maybe 2 months ago the ship date was accurate. But perhaps you might understand how the aforementioned items might set them back a little. And yes that includes not knowing exactly when they can produce your "2012 super tenere adventure touring package with free Go Pro camera"

Maybe when they are done rationing water and fishing bodies out of the ocean they can get to making your tank bag

This is tough. Eemsreno, I sympathize with you. It's extremely frustrating to have to wait around for something, and I'm sure we've all at one time or another been subjected to the backorder process. Psychologically I'm sure that even if you can't have the bike, at least having some components to it is like balm for the wound, and now that's been delayed.

I think the other guys have already said it, things are just plain screwed up right now, patience is the only option.

I don't want to give false hope, but if I were in Yamaha's shoes, even without it being their fault I would think they'd try and throw in something at the end of it all as a thank-you to all the folks who were patient. Even something small like a free T-shirt would go a long way with soothing over customers. I have no idea if they've ever done something like this before but it sure wouldn't be a bad idea.

Hang in there man.

I would suspect expected ship for the order on the computer is a software setting, nothing to do with real world.

I still have not called my dealer/salesman and I have not ordered ANYTHING. If I really had to order something, it would be the windscreen adjuster bracket from WaspWorks. Probably put on higher dogbones also, but will make my own when I get the bike and feel it needs it.

This is gonna be a great time when we all get our bikes and hit the road and start sending ride reports, sorting little niggles and stuff. Just wait and you will see!

You can please all the people some of the time,
You can please some of the people all the time,
You can't please all the people all the time.

Yes, it is an unfortunate situation we face when we can't have what we WANT when we want it. It's also an entirely different thing when those who are building what we WANT don't have what they NEED.

Needs vs wants. Perspective is what many of us need! A new bike and/or the accessories are all wants and really don't mean a thing in the grand scheme of things when compared against others needs.

And today they just faced another aftershock at a magnitude of 7.1. The saga continues.

It'll get here when it gets here. If that isn't good enough, go buy something else and satisfy your wanton desires elsewhere.

This sounds a lot like the aggravated person who WANTS to drive over my fire hose or through my rollover major injury vehicle accident because they're inconvenienced on their way to the grocery store to pick up their half gallon of milk and go to Starbuck's in their Hummer. The answer is turn around and go back. Your wants are irrelevant to the situations needs.
