They are in my opinion the best all round tire out there unles you're into mud or sand. I like them better than Tourances. The rear Tourance tends to wear flat in the middle where as the Anakees stay nice and round for the duration. Also the front Tourances can become unbalanced after a couple 1000 miles and cause the front end to wobble at slow speed. ::001::

I agree with you about the Tourances.

I think the man said he was getting around 11-12K out of the Tourances. I only got just over 4k out of my rear Tourance. ::007:: The tire sticks good on the slab (wet or dry) and hard packed dirt roads, but that's about all. Granted I ride a lot 2-up with the bike loaded and that puts more heat in the tires causing short life on the pavement.

That may answer Jaxons question about if the man rides easy on tires. His bike looked like it was loaded up pretty good too.

I'm running the Annakee II on front, and will most likely get a rear. Buddy of mine loves them, says they have never slipped with him, and gets better wear than the Tourance.

Wonder how it does off road. The tread pattern looks simular to the Metz.
Here's a picture of the Anakee II tires on my wife's Tenere in a mud situation.

I've run Anakee II's for years on my Vee, wife's Wee and put them on my S10 which has become my wife's bike. They are a very good road tire. They are okay off pavement, better than some others, dramatically better than Trail Wings, but in the end they are truly an 80/20 tire. Since I find we are doing more and more off pavement I'm going to install a set of K60s to see if they will do better than the Anakee's. If they work for me I'll abandon the Anakee setup on my wife's bike as well.

+2 on the K60s if you are going offroad, especially mud!

Agree with Dirt Dad. The Anakees are my Fave 80/20 tire but when it gets slippery you have to be careful. However the percentage of times that has been a problem WAS small on the Strom. I am sensing it may be looking at a more dirty tire as time goes on. But Anakees are generally OK for a normally dry dusty country like mine.

Just replacing my front Anakee II after 17,000 km (guesstimate). it still has a bit of life but the tire is getting noisy and side to side wobbly at low speed. The rears don't last nearly that long on the Vee.

Cheers
Graham

Just had a set of K60 's from Tabasco spooned on my S10. Yes they are a Little more vibey than the OEM tire but nothing that you can't live with. I just was out this evening on a mix of road surfaces and I almost forgot I had changed my tires just 2 days ago. You become use to these tires that quickly. They realy shine on lose gravel and dirt. Still can throw the bike around like I'm running street tires to boot ::015::

My K60's from Tabasco are due in Saturday. I'll mount them then head off for Western North Carolina in less than a week. Looking forward to seeing how they do.

Looking forward to installing mine as well, but doubt I will run them after my Whitehorse trip. Still considering the Conti, but this Anakee is looking interesting!

Funny (and a little bit boring :-X) how every tire thread gets taken over by fans of the K60, which - I get it - is long-lasting and economic, looks dangerously serious and does very well in light offroad conditions. Ironically in Germany, where it comes from, it is VERBOTEN to leave paved roads... So we stay on tarmac, and for that, there are better tires than the Heidenau. With TrailAttacks (mine lasted 10k km / 6k miles) the S10 handles spectacularly easy, but they are no good in the wet and not so spectalur anymore on deteriorated tarmac. That is the strong suit of the Anakee 2, which I'm riding right now. They need a firmer hand in the twisties, but they feel extremely comfortable and confident and stick to the street like superglue, no matter if the road is dry or wet. People use to get a similar mileage out of them as the TrailAttacks.

Structurally the Anakee is similar to Michelin's Pilot Road, so they are less than perfect for offroad usage. But they can take some light gravel, too. The guy in front has Anakees, I'm on TrailAttacks:

Thanks for the ride. Beautiful country and a good mix of road conditions. Enjoyed hearing the sound of the Super Tenere.

What is the V and H rating?
H is rated to 130mph, V is rated to 149mph. Has to do with how the tire heats up at higher speeds. If you're worried about whether H rated tires are manly enough, let me note that the K60s that are so beloved by the hardcore guys are T rated, which is (only) 118mph. I wouldn't sweat it. Get what you like in whatever rating is available.
