Ive read several articles on the events.. From what I understand they vary greatly. Both in how difficult / terrain and the overall experience... I have not been to one yet..

Just got back from the one in Taos. Had a perfeclly wondereful time, nice event put on by local folk.
350 + miles off road and fifty or so on tarmac. Oddly I had the only Super Tenere there. BMW's, KLR's,DR's,KTM's.
Nice selection of duelsport bikes.Even had two pairs of two up riders that put on a spectacular display of riding skills
out riding many of the singles!!!! I have never seem and don't think I will ever see that again!
New Mexico has the most spectacular sights to see off the beaten path.

Now that I have my bike I will be watching for an event near me. It sounds like the kind of thing I would enjoy doing.

Looks to me like they lent the name and sponsorship to some existing events, probably with modifications.

I'd check with the locals and see who specifically is the organizer for any one event and how the similar event went last year.

I did one of the rides back in April. Instead of trying to remember what I wrote last time, I'll quote myself from the old thread. This was before the Teneres made it to the US. I still don't think I would like riding the ST in some of the tight spots.

Did the Yosemite Adventure ride this past Saturday.

Couple things about the "National Adventure Riding Series". Each ride is put on by regional area promoters, and all are affiliated with the AMA. Other than that, I think each ride is unique to the local promoter. The ride I went on is an annual ride put on by Family Off-Road Adventures: http://www.familyoffroadadventures.com/home.asp

So, about the Super Tenere. It wasn't there. :'( It was mentioned quickly in passing, and all riding participants were given a ticket to mail in for the contest. That was it, nothing else. There were T-shirts for sale that featured a stylized picture of a KTM and a Super Tenere. (The promoter does a big KTM ride in the early fall).

And the ride? Like I mentioned earlier, I live fairly close by and have ridden trails in the area, so the views were not new to me. I didn't stop for pictures, and it really doesn't rate a ride report. It was not very challenging, being all double track and mostly gravel. Large dual sports would be a handful in a few of the tight spots, but all got through without mishap. Would I ride a new ST on the same route? No, but I'm not that good. The bike could do it, just not me (yet).

Will I go next year? Probably not. The event was fun, but I'm not really into riding the same trail with 80+ other riders in dusty conditions. Plus I've got the course coordinates in my GPS, and can go exploring the routes on my own.

None near to me, so I will be looking for next year's schedule. It sounds like a fun time.

That is absolutely correct. This is not something designed just for Super Teneres'.

You should contact the group putting on the ride and specifically ask if there are routes for 'adventure bikes', as alot (but not all) of these rides in my area are mostly single-track and NOT something you could take the ST on unless you are a A-class rider - think very long, sandy, loose, rocky, single track uphill's at a 30 degree+ incline!

Looks like they will be doing a Barstow to Vegas run next month.

Anyone going?

::022::
There are some folks who have done it on V-Stroms, GS's and KTM 990's but it's really designed for dual-sport bikes like my KTM 530 and similar.

The run is actually the LA B to V (LA Barstow to Vegas). Here is the web site: http://labarstowvegas.com/

Read the ride report and make you own decision!

Up until this year that was true, HOWEVER, the boys from RawHyde have already pre run and come up with a big bike friendly route!!!!!! Just sayin'!! I would be doing it except there is no way I can swing the time off from the fire house this year.

Good to know that RawHyde has done that...should open the experience to more folks. Are they running it from LA or starting at Barstow?

It appears that RawHyde is doing this on their own and not in conjunction with AMA District 37 Dual-Sport?

The official 'AMA District 37 Dual-Sport LA B to V run' is done over thanksgiving weekend (and the continuation of the famous Barstow-to-Vegas Hare & Hound run in years past, but with route changes every year). Are they planning on running this at the same time as the D37 event?

They are doing it from the same point to point and at the same time.

It is not a RawHyde pay event either. It is not a training ride.

I can't believe I missed this over on the D37 site, but sure enough I did. This will really open the experience up to those with Adventure bikes. Way cool! (I'm still doing it on my KTM though).
