As many of you guys know, we’ve had trouble gaining access to a Super Tenere here in the States. Before we could verify our slightly modified crash bars would allow access to the tank bolt covers on the left side, we had to send back the Tenere Steve from AdventureMoto had been kind enough to lend us.

So when we saw Steve at the Dealer Expo last month, we sent him home with a set of crash bars to try out. He just got back to us and let us know that the left side panel cannot be removed while the bars are still installed -- but that it’s easy to unbolt the panel and gain access to the tank bolt covers. Dealing with your air filter shouldn’t be an issue.

He also mentioned we’d succeeded in providing some good protection and minimal overall width (good news, since he’ll be taking the bike on the Tenere Tragics ride!). We’re excited to finally make these bars available now that we’ve confirmed the left panel is not a problem.

If you wanted to pre-order, you still can reserve your set.

I agree, great video! Jeremy any chance of getting one on the crash bars? Looks like now I'll want one of those as well. I think I need a part time job. :)

Really like your products Jeremy. Looking at purchasing the crash bars, skid plate and the luggage rack in the near future. wondering if you have a distributor in Canada ?

Jeremy,

Nice skidplate. It's on my list to order.

A quick question.....will the skidplate have to be removed to change the oil filter and remove the oil drain plug?

Ha! Of course you're going to have to remove any skid plate to do a proper oil and filter change. Just get the skid plate that you like best, and know that it will be part of the process.

@martinh: Sorry you've got a wait in front of you! Just let us know when you're ready to get your bike outfitted -- we'll be glad to celebrate with you.

@motocephalic: We actually do have an installation video for the crash bars. :)

@limey: Just finalized an agreement with Dual Sport Plus -- they are now an AltRider distributor in Canada.

@stevepsd: You will need to remove the skid plate to change the oil filter, but not necessary when removing the oil drain plug.

@MortiisMachine: Glad that we're going to be able to help you out! Can't wait to see pictures of your bike posted here.

I've been watching the earthquake news from Japan, and am getting a bit concerned about the delivery dates for the ST. I placed an order with ALTRider for crash bars and skid plate a week ago. I'm thinking about having them put my order on "hold", for a variety of reasons.

Anyone else thinking the same?

I think Japan's short term future is highly uncertain at this point. If they don't get control of those nuclear reactors, that entire part of the world will be seriously threatened. I don't think a lot of people realize how incredibly dangerous that stuff is. It produces the most toxic residue known to mankind, and we dump it in the ocean and/or bury it. We don't know what else to do with it.

Japan has a tough road ahead of them for quite a while. I wish them well, and hope they are able to recover from this in a relatively short period of time. R
