I'd be in for a group buy. I would be in for the Altrider crash bars and skid plate (both black). If I can scrape together the funds, I'll also get the u-joint guard and rear master cylinder guard, too. A tad lower on the list (so on the "want" list rather than "need" list) are the exhaust guard and the side stand foot.

I'd be in for a group also.. But.... I need to know if I can raise the tank with out taking off
the crash bars.. If not, that is a deal breaker on the crash bars..
Crash bars
Bash plate
U-Joint guard

I think it would be wise for those of us wanting a crash bar to allow the radiator fairing to be removed with the bars on the bike need to let ALTRIDER know this is what we want. At this time, the RS panel can be removed, not the LS panel (radiator) with the ALT bars installed. I think we should talk to Jeremy about this at ALT.

I will second that HoebSTer. As you know, Jeremy is a cool guy and open to our input along the way. I spoke to him at the Long Beach show and he told me about a few planned changes he was going to make to the prototype bars they had on display so it was not finalized as of a month ago.

There may be time for them to make the change to the left side bars to allow removal of the shroud, however, I don't think they still have the bike to test fit.

Jeremy, you out there? What do you think about this. Oh, what about that group buy too?

I'm trying to create an account but it keeps giving me this: "The captcha is invalid" what is this?

Jeff, I believe you came by to see the bike, didn't you? If not, you're close enough you should definitely swing by. :D

If you want to know what we’ve got coming, check out our blog post about it if you haven't already. And as Jeff mentioned, you can create an AltRider account and sign up for Yamaha specific product news update emails – which means you’ll be notified when we’ve got new stuff coming for your bike.

Captcha is the security code that pops up where you have to input the code that is written in the weird font and a mix of numbers and letters. Check the login again and make sure you have input it exactly as it appears.

I was able to creat an account without any problem, but when I tried to order their free catalog, it would not let me without entering my credit card info.

I don't think so............ ::)

I hope to see Jeremy at the NY show. He said he will have a booth there. I am going to ask him if the rad cover can be removed without removing the crash bars. I hope it can and if not hope he can adjust the bars so it can. If it can I will be ordering some bars and a bash plate at the show.

I hope his answer is yes.. I would like to purchase the bars, but not in the current configuration.

Agreed. I gave Jeremy that input earlier (that both side panels need to be removable with the crash bars in place), but it's worth repeating. That is a very important design feature as far as I'm concerned. I don't care if that means they stick out further from the panels. Actually, I think that is better. It keeps the bike even further from rocks on a tip over. Off-road terrain isn't flat, so the further the crash bars stick out, the more uneven terrain is accounted for.

yes, if someone is going to talk to jeremy this weekend, then you might want to say this is where the general public (us) are heading. Wider bars which allow removal of panels.

I'll be going to the NY show and planning on talking to Jeremy. If I see him I will let him know the board census is we want the bars wide enough so we can remove both side fairing covers off without removing his great looking bars. Plus we all would like a group buy ;D

I met with Jeremy yesterday. He is a nice guy and passionate about making quality products. I was and was able to hold all the parts for the Tenere he is making. I must say that are top quality. the bash plate was real nice and still working out the price on it from the company he has making it for him. I talked to him about the crash bars and he is waiting to get the bike back to see if the left side fairing is removable with out taking off the bars.

That is funny Martin about Jeremy "getting the bike back" I thought he mentioned two things in the past directly. 1. The LS bars AREN'T REMOVABLE with current production when I asked him in person. 2. After the Long Beach show, the bike was being shipped back to Yamaha Australia.
I don't work there, so i don't know all of the details of course.

Hey, guys, apologize for the delayed response. Been on the road for two weeks with the motorcycle shows, and still getting caught up. Working to verify the fairing situation and will keep you posted.

Concerning a group buy -- right now, not sure we can offer one. The company has been live for less than a year, and the budget is pretty tight. Trying to keep the prices on these things reasonable while manufacturing in the United States means there isn't really room for discounting.

A quick update about the AltRider luggage rack for the Yamaha Super Tenere XT1200Z: it will now be possible not only to mount in the upper position using our bracket, but in a lower position should you desire to remove the pillion seat.

I'll have pictures for you soon...

Fanastic news on the luggage rack.

I love the rack with the extra cubby below. But I will have the pillion seat off most of the time and wante to mount the rack in the lower position.

Voila! You've solved the problem.

Jeremy,

That is great news. I'll add the rack to my list of AltRider parts to order (Crash Bars, Skid Plate).

You also mentioned a month or so ago, something about saddlebags.........any info you can share?

Thanks!

Here's the image I promised -- just a rough render to give you an idea how it will mount.

The grab handles will need to be removed, and of course the pillion seat would be removed, but this configuration offers more versatility. We are taking pre-orders for the luggage rack (and our other parts for the Super Tenere)... so if you're thinking of purchasing one, you may want to reserve it now.
