Has anyone been working on a 2017 rally?
It would help on planning vacations if we could set a place and date early.
Utah was excellent last fall, but maybe we should move it around.
I was looking at the Black Hills of SD. and it would be a central new location.
We need an inside man near the Hills to set thing up.
If we held it on either side of the Sturgis rally [week before or after] anyone wanting to do both rally's could easily do so.
I guess I'm an out west kind of guy, Less traffic and people, more scenic, lots of things to do and see.
I'm open for any good place for the rally it just helps to know sooner than later the time and place.
Maybe we need to have it in Deadhorse or Inuvik, that would give me a great reason to ride back up.

Doubt if anyone interested in Sturgis would be interested in our Rally and vice versa. If we do have it up there best to be at least a month away from the Rally so we can actually enjoy the roads without bumping into pirates.

Instead of AK or Yukon maybe split the difference and have it somewhere in BC or western AB. We have a good contingency of Tenere owners there and in the PNW. Maybe bump it up a month to August for better weather.

I agree with staying away from the cruiser Sturgis crowed. Just trying to please everyone.
I like them Ozarks but it has been there twice.

I sure like the BC idea! lets look into that.

I like the central idea maybe more guys will come from the east side of the country.

Didn't seem to help AR attendance in 2015. I think we had more people this year in UT and it wasn't even a real organized Rally. More of come and ride and camp without a person at the helm. Also many thought the Rally was cancelled and never checked back into the thread until too late to schedule.

So my point with that means nothing really. A Rally location most likely gets set when somebody steps up and announces they will take a lead in organizing and planning it. The sooner those dates get set in advance should garner more of a turnout. No reason why we couldn't have two or more Rallies either. Hopefully the dates would not be in competition with one another though.

Ozarks are always nice, only 500 miles from me but I would rather ride 2,500 miles to BC and spend time somewhere new. If nobody steps up to organize before next Summer, consider me a Plan B option for TX Hill Country Rally. Been held there once already though, over 400 miles away from me but I'm very familiar with the area and can get something going quickly. Personally way down my preference list but something is always better than nothing.

Limey, organize one in Ontario. That would be my second choice. I rode 3 days across Ontario on my way to UT this year and it is beautiful.

Given the state of the country, I can't blame them ::015::

A suggestion for location in NC: http://blueridgemotorcyclecamp.com/

New here, but this location has many roads just out the gate. Lotsa level tent grounds and a kitchen on site to serve country cooking.

I'd personally prefer something out west, in spite of the fact that i'm in the East, but the Smokies do have a ton of riding in all variations and several campgrounds catering to motorcyclists.

Cheers,
Randy

I have a lot of great routes in the TN, NC, GA area...of course it's hard to go wrong in most places around there unless you're stabbing it.

If folks are interested in coming out to the Pacific NW, at least as far as Idaho and Montana, there are some good options. I made a post on my blog about the Lolo Hot Springs Resort in western Montana. It's near the Idaho Backcountry Discovery Route. It has tent camping, cabins and RV parking as well as a giant pool and hot springs.

Check the blog for more info >> http://oregonmoto.blogspot.com/2016/11/idbdr-as-super-tenere-2017-rally.html

There are great paved and non-paved rides. The PNW Tenere riders are working on our summer schedule now and I'm sure the IDBDR will be part of it even if it's just a few days riding.

Man I like your idea of the black hills. There is a nice trail set up called the Dakota Adventure loop "DakAL" that runs through the Black Hills. I have only ridden a small section of the DakAL so far but I will be back there again next June. The Dakotadualsportriders.com have small rally based just out of Deadwood that I will be using to hit more of the DakAL trail and get a better feel for the area.

Idaho, and South Dakota both sound like great places to ride. I've been itching to get up and ride the IDBDR, ever since I completed the UTBDR.
Sounds like we already have a group of folks in Idaho, that know the country and could help set up a location and some routes...
Don't forget Colorado, we could always return there for another rally ::001::
