Looks like an east coast brew. Well, we'll enjoy something cold to drink anyway. I should be rolling into camp Monday sometime. And yes...it is work getting ready.

My kids would think I'm never coming back home with that setup.
They could be right. :)

Thanks. Wife is going and likes the comforts. You, Snakebitten, are a forum member I'd like to meet. Are you going to make it?

Honestly, I was playing this one by ear. I wasn't sure if I could pull it off because the dates were first week of July. So I never posted anything either way.

Every year that week is crowded on the calendar. This year it turned out I had promised a coworker the week off.
So I'm covering for him. I'm trying not to pout since I rarely am asked to do this.

I was hoping though. Cortez is like the perfect starting spot for me. FROM there, I have about 5 spots across Colorado that I try not to miss.
Rendezvousing with you folks would have been a PERFECT way to do Colorado this year.

Oh well. I'll live vicariously through yaw this time. Have a blast and soak up those awesome Smoky Mountain Sunrises\Sunsets!

Update: torrential rain in FL dangerous storm (hail and high winds) in LA, a failed trailer hub and roadside camp ax repair in MS, and a truck window which won't go up or down as of TX.

...but I'll be there, dammit!! I actually could be there now but didn't want to set up in the dark. Thank you, walmart!

Snake, truly sorry to miss you - was wondering what part of TX you're in as I toiled thru it.

Wreck or DD posted pics in the Romney thread recently - but quite a while after the event. I smiled seeing you and the "cowgirl" in the pic, having heard the story.

Keep trucking Steve. Had a bit of an issue with my trailer setting up for the night in Utah. The window issue might be the switch. I had this issue with my 2002 Ford. I will help if still not working at camp.

I thought the recent wildfires were limited to California and Arizona? Lol

All these truck and trailer issues make me glad I'm relying solely on the RTW dependable Tenere for my transportation out there. However I did have a family event/mini emergency pop up this week but still hopeful it doesn't impact my plans for leaving late Fri or Sat.

Steve did you pass through Houston on your way west? I'm just north and Snake's just south so we could've had a pow wow and grabbed a meal unless you went through in the middle of the night.

Did I just get spell checked? LOL

Steve, you can be in Texas and be 1000 miles away, or 10 miles away from my place.
But sounds like you took the I10 corridor.
As SilverBullet said, you got pretty close to some of us.

And yes, our trucks, trailers, and rv's are NOT as reliable as our Yamahas.
But I'm betting we have more staying power, on the road. :)

Ok, check in is not until noon, and they are booked solid. I'm chilling at beautiful rest stop a few miles east of Mesa Verde. I think the altitude is kicking me already, so I'm ok with taking it easy.

I came thru Texas on i20 to Dallas, then 287 nw to Amarillo, then i40 into NM.

287 was interesting in that it hosted some of both the prettiest and ugliest sights of the trip. There's a long stretch of oil wells and wind mills and power lines, then rolling hills and green.

ummmm, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Some of us Texans think that oil well (hobby horse) looks really nice. Even if it were in the front yard! lol

We'd just landscape around it (I prefer azaleas) and sit on the porch sippin iced tea and enjoying it going up...and down...and up...and down....

I miss the days of throwing a bag on the back seat of the bike and riding/moto camping around

The camper is plush and dry, but it's a lot to haul, and my truck is getting tired at 17 y.o.

At a fuel stop, the guy next to me said, "those are Florida plates, but that's not Florida rust!"
"Nope - that's Pennsylvania rust!" Up north, my truck was a firewood hauler and snow machine - literally a retired plow truck. It has a block heater, the plug hangs out of the front grill. Whenever a Southerner asks what that plug is for, I test their gullibility be saying "it's a hybrid ...a diesel-electic, like a train."

I'm leaving Southwest Florida early 7/5 headed your way to ride the Rockies. Camping this trip with no set schedule or time pressure. See you when I get there.

Site 60, up the hill

....and my drive shaft is still leaking.
Major leak from your pumpkin? I've had minor leaks come and go before and surprisingly what seems like a lot of leaked fluid amounts to next to nothing. If you're concerned and want to do a campsite repair let me know before Friday. I have a rear seal and cover plate x-ring in stock that I could bring.

I brought fluid, I'm going to crack it open and see how low it is. Hopefully it looks worse than it is.
What's frustrating is that it leaks continuously. It leaked on the trailer strapped down for 3 days. If it really is a severe leak, I was thinking of taking it to the local yam dealer here in Cortez. Don't know how likely they'd have parts in stock. Seems like it would need more tools and space than a camp site could muster, but if you think it's doable, please bring whatever you have. Fwiw, I'm pretty sure it's leaking on the wheel side, not the shaft side. I had it all apart and cleaned up before I left. The shaft side looked dry. The wheel side didn't.
