I got my recall done today and asked about the 2014 turn signals. The part numbers are in the computer, but they aren't available for order yet. I am pretty sure I could modify the wiring, it just depends on how much they will want for them.

The side panels aren't that hard to remove, even with crash bars installed.

A dealer near me tried to sell me a demo bike for the same price, but I got mine from my local dealership for less OTD for a brand new one.

I believe that is correct. I moved to Kalifornia with a 1 month old car without any problems other than I had to SMOG it, but that was years ago. I would ask the DMV since you are not a CA resident yet. The "new" rule only applies to CA residents, which you are not yet.

Unfortunately that is a very true statement and it has happened to friends of mine. Once you attempt to register an "illegal" vehicle in the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia the VIN is flagged in the DMV's system. They want their SMOG requirements met and they want their tax money!!

I use AMSOIL with the EAO filters on all my cars/trucks and change the oil every 12 months / 12,000 miles. The S10 will get the standard oil changes.
