Never been to Oz mate ... wife has and she raves about it ... so many places eh? I also loved South Africa
Australia is stunning. I’ve been three times since 2016, once for a month. As far north on the east coast as Cairns and Port Douglas and as far south as Byron Bay, mostly along the coast, but lots inland too, lots around Brisbane and the Gold Coast. I am fully aware that I’ve only see a tiny part of Oz, however everything about it just clicked with me, it’s fantastic. The wildlife/nature side of things are particularly appealing. Next visit there will be Sydney to Tasmania, the great ocean road and whatever else I can fit in.

I do however need to visit the US, like Australia, there’s so much to see and do. Some of the places I see on here are very impressive and spectacular, and there seems to be lots of it. I’d struggle to decide where’s best for a first visit!

I reckon its the sheer space again don't you think? I know we have space but there are not many places in the UK where you can ride without fairly quickly coming across a built up area of some description? You make Australia sound very appealing mate ... has to be done ;)

Loved Australia and don't forget New Zealand, stunningly beautiful.
Tasmania very worthwhile...
Both AU and NZ are two very well run countries, I'm in Canada and just wish we had some political leadership like the Australian and New Zealand people do.
Canada is very scenic, just pick your time of year, usually May to early October..

South Africa, just plan very carefully and know where you are going...Best to be accompanied by South Africans as they know the lay of the land.

There are sketchy bits in some places ... I rode from Cape Town up to Pretoria and then up to a gorgous place named Lesheba Wilderness not too far from the border with Zimbabwe. It was amazing and I never felt in any danger and did it on my own, however the advice on having a trip with a local is good advice as I am sure I missed loads through lack of knowledge .... lovely country and I would love to go back, I dont know if things are worse, better or the same though?

Was chasing a brown bear off with a helicopter because it was next to a freeway. Had to use my downwash to pelt him with dirt and rocks, nothing else worked. The bear actually turned on me, got on its hind legs and charged me.

Don't think bear spray would have worked. One mean sob.

I rode up Mud Lake Line, a local road that I've done numerous times and after a big rain it gets a bit sloppy. I usually take a good run though this mud bog but today I have panniers on and I didn't want to risk a fall and broken ankle, so i rode around it. Front wheel caught a rut and slipped out to left, the bike toppled right and spit me into the water.

I couldn't get any traction with my boots in the muck to lift the bike up, so I tied my tow rope to a tree and used 2 ratchet straps to lift the bike enough for me to upright it.
Interesting day, busy now cleaning my riding gear.

I took mine for a 350 mile loop today to see how my new Airhawk pad works out. Have a long ride planned this summer and the stock seat isn't quite cutting it. I also ordered a Seat Concepts seat as well since I have one on my WR and really like it.
Today from OC to the Salton Sea on 90% two lane. At Ocotillo Wells:

I’ve recently fitted a Cool Cover to my bike, as I too find the seat not ideal. I’ve not ridden it yet since being fitted, however I’m off to Scotland at the weekend, so will have plenty of hours in the saddle. Will report my thoughts on the CC when back.
