I just wired them in when installing the rear (with lengthening the cord). I was instructed to do so by the dealer...and I follow technical advise like gospel. :-X

I have them installed with the resistors. You will just need one per side (ie one for the right side and one for left) even though yamaha provides 4 resistors with four blinkers. The wiring for the rear is a bit short, so I put some extra length of cable in. Mine function great and are more...
