Now, this is all very premature (as are many things at my relatively young age ;D) but I heard some interesting news at my local Yamaha dealership. As you are undoubtedly aware of the june 11th unveiling, he added some more info into the mix. He claimed there was plenty more news expected for 2014 (up to 5 or 6 new models). More interestingly, he claimed he stumbled upon a new and unknown to him yamaha skid plate. His thought was, that this was the first sign of an new/overhauled S10 for 2014...

...I was saving money for june 11th...looks like I'm gonna be saving a little longer.... :D

Cheers

But say if one of the new bikes was a 660 tenere can i still stay on the forum? can we then make it a big and little tenere forum?

I chuckle EVERY time I see one of these rumor posts, especially when they concern Yamaha. This company is REALLY good at keeping their cards hidden until they want to reveal them. Every single year the FJR community goes through this and we've seen it on both model changes and problems that end up getting a service bulletin or recall.

A stumbled upon, unknown skidplate is all it takes to start crazy Internet rumors - lol...

I'm good unless the supposed new Tenere is coming standard with cruise control and 140hp in a new Super Sport mode...

Or maybe 135hp from a new 1200 Triple....where have we seen that before?

All those "adjustable on the fly" options need to be adjustable from the switchgear on the handlebars... Hope I'm not being too picky... ;)

The Royal Star community has been waiting for fuel injection for 15+ years... ::010::

I've got to be honest, i've heard similar speculations over here in Croatia, from my dear friends at Yamaha Split.
If i remember well, new TDM with triple in line, amongst 7/8 more new models were mentioned for '13/'14.
Dunno...

I'd read somewhere once, that industry wide, the manufacturers of motorcycles only have to have a percentage of their bikes be real clean. That usually includes FI to keep things real lean/clean. So for 17 years many of Yamaha's other models got FI. The poor Royal has four carbs to keep sync'd. Kinda glad she's got a new home...

If they come out with anything in the 660 to 900 range that in smaller in stature and has all the features of the 1200 (ABS, traction control, linked brakes...and please a shaft) then I will be the first among the first knocking on Romney Cycles' doors to get one. I'd buy it even without the shaft...but I really want the shaft. My wife does great on her current Tenere, but it's still too big for her.

Two more days and all the suspense will be over.

A ~ 900 CC twin Tenere with shaft drive, more ground clearance, more suspension travel, and tubeless tires would be awesome. If ii doesn't have shaft drive, I'm not messing with it anymore. Chains are a PITA on long trips, and at least in my experience, end up costing more in maintenance in the long run.

Make mine a shaft drive triple, 100 hp, proper fueling, weighing less then 500lbs road ready, 250 mile range, street oriented adv bike with cruise control, traction control, heated grips and proper luggage. Bring it at under $11K. Did I mention proper Fueling! ::016::

Fueling on the new BMW R12GS is prefect, come on Yamaha you can do it! ::002::

Regards, Paul

There will not be a shaft... 200kgs tops and will forgiv'em the shaft. 21/18 inch wheels and i'll forgive much more. 250+ mm of both suspension travel with a decent ground clearance, and i'll forgive them whatever they want. :)

My personal prediction for the 2014 Super Tenere is simple - BNG*

Of course, much like quantum mechanics my predicting such will likely suddenly guarantee there will be huge. sweeping changes, from cruise control to lighter weight, from more horsepower to better suspension, and, of course - BNG. :D
