Do yours blink slow or fast? Just installed some and they are blinking faster than stock.. In my experience, when you add the resistor it will slow the LED back down.. But before I tear into it I wanted to ask others that have the Yamaha LED turn signals ..... Thanks !

Search out a plug and play solid-state flasher and you won't need resistors. Just replace the OEM Flasher with that and you'll be good to go. They work with both the incandescent(OEM) and LED. IMO it beats hooking up 2 sets of power robbing, heat generating load resistors.

I have them installed with the resistors. You will just need one per side (ie one for the right side and one for left) even though yamaha provides 4 resistors with four blinkers. The wiring for the rear is a bit short, so I put some extra length of cable in. Mine function great and are more visible than stock, but I do agree with Tremor that a solid state flasher is a better solution for the fast blinking.

ps: I heard form a fellow inmate that he has moisture in his yamaha LED blinkers. Checked mine regularly, and no problems here.

Interesting in that my 2009 TDM has a flasher unit that is compatible with LED's as standard.
cheers Graeme

Welcome to the forum Graeme! How about posting an intro over in the "Member intro" section?

The kit did come with one resistor per LED turn signal.... Total of four... How did you use only one per side ? Thanks

I believe someone mentioned (maybe on ADV) that the LED blinkers worked well with just one resistor per side. When I installed the Yamaha LED blinkers I used a replacement blinker relay from Custom LED. Plug and play, super easy!

I just wired them in when installing the rear (with lengthening the cord). I was instructed to do so by the dealer...and I follow technical advise like gospel. :-X

I ended up fitting three resistors. I think I ended up taking the front right hand side one out. It's shown here but I removed it at the end of the farkle fettling session. Works a treat. You will have to cut the rear wires BTW. Do a search on here as I'm sure I did a write up ... if I didn't I meant to. Greg has a full write up on ADV and I think he may have put it on here too. I gotta go now but if you get stuck I'll happily guide you through it. :)

Using 2 resistors and 4 resistors will result in the same flash rate.. If not, the 2 will only have slightly faster rate..

Was using 4 until my friend told me that 2 is workable too..
So I took out the 2 in front as they are not heatsinked to any metal parts..
The rear ones was strapped to the subframe..

OK.... something new to the story........

The blinkers are blinking fast when you have them on at a stop... Today I go ride the ST, under load or more RPM's the blinkers "blink" slow (normal) then fast..... then (normal - slow) then fast............ left and right do the same slow / fast / slow / fast blink..............

Then if your back at idle they just blink fast....... WHAT THE HECK ? LOL

That is weird.. I'll just throw some stuff out. Check the grounds and if you still have the resistors, remove the front two.
It sounds like a connection is making/breaking. Because it is happening on both sides it has to be related.
Prob not much help, but I tried... LOL

I don't think he's hooked-up the resistors yet.

Yes... All four resistors are at each of the four corners for each of the LED turn signals, just like the instructions have said to do... Ill go back and check it all.... The install as far as the wires goes is very easy... Seams freaking strange...

If you run straight 12V to the LED's you will blow them up.... You have to run resistors..

Do you have wires/colours right? Of course you have what a stupid question. :))
Resistors are for the relay, enough resistor for blinking
Four is okay if you don't have emergency flashers.
If you have only two have to be installed, this is Yamaha's official information.
Let's ::26:: . I ::26:: only in the carrage we have winter now.

Those are two separate animals. The LED turn signals already have the built-in resistors (hooked in series with the leds) that prevent them from getting fried by 12-14V bike power. The plug in units that came with your signals are hooked in parallel across each turn signal assy. They are for properly loading the turn signal relay to give you the right flash rate.
