Gateway BMW in St. Louis has an off road school Apr. 24-26. It's a lot less expensive than Raw Hyde. All brands welcome. I've heard it's good and fun. I'm signed up and looking forward to it.

Having test ridden the S10 and the new GS back to back, they seemed about the same size to me. Maybe you are referring to the GS Adventure, which looks as big as a tug boat to me too.

Hi folks. Thanks for the welcome and the great forum. I really like the ST, but decided to go with a GS. Gateway BMW made me a good offer to trade my 19 year old RS for a 1 year old GSW. If you ever pass me broken down on the side of the road, you can say "I told you so." :)

No question, ESA is not necessary and it adds complexity that can result in failure eventually, regardless of the brand. I've never had it, but it seems like it would be very convenient when adding a passenger especially. Maybe nice on a rough road too by applying softer damping, or when...

You've obviously given a lot of thought to this. I guess we should consider the idea of ESA thoroughly discredited.

A few thoughts: I like the Telelever front suspension because of the inherent anti-dive when braking. I also like the idea of separating suspension and steering, although I don't know how much practical difference it makes. When I moved to my current bike with Telelever, it was a HUGE...
