You may have already tried this ....... but a good tip if the beads are pinched together in transit, is to spoon the tyre on & then get a ratchet strap around the circumference & tighten up gently until the profile corrects itself. Worked a treat on my Electraglide rear.
Thanks Squibb. Yeah, I've had to do that before and I was about ready to resort to that. A little pushing and pulling whilst the air was being administered, along with a bit of bouncing and turning up my compressor's pressure setting (more flow presumably) finally got it.

When I was a kid working in a service station we had ratchet-type strap device that was actually a tube you could inflate once you got it strapped on around the perimeter of the tire as tight as you could by hand. That got a stubborn car tire to seat about 9 times out of 10. Sometimes we had to use two of them.

The rear rack is only rated for 5kg/11 lbs if I recall correctly. Doesn't matter who's plate you have on top of it.

Changed my oil, final drive oil and had to put a few licks to straighten my skidplate. I don’t know how I would survive or should I say how my catalyst would survive without it. Definitely money well spent for me. ACD plate 2BDFEC80-F5AB-4579-8F41-F82CD37ECCC5.jpeg

Send alt rider the photos, They May want to make this right. Hope things go your way.
Altrider supposed to see if they can get the mounting frame today. Sounds like he hasn’t tried to get that before. Said he would see about a discounted rack if frame is not available. Surely I’m not the first this has happened to. When I took it off some of the bolts weren’t fully tight. Even though I lock tighted the bolts. If you have a rack like this check your bolts every now and then

Continuing preparation for my trip to Calgary in a couple of weeks, I changed the coolant. Very simple job, drain, rinse with DI water, refill. I was surprised how fast the system drained through that little 8mm water pump drain bolt, squirted clean over my catch pan as soon as I removed the radiator cap. Of course that's on the opposite side of the bike preventing me from repositioning the catch pan quickly. Bit of a mess to clean up. Gave up trying to remove the catch tank to dump it (fasteners are difficult to access) and used a cheapo hand pump siphon instead. That worked fine. I am accustomed to refilling the catch tank all the way to the top level line. My experience with most bikes and cars is to expect some air belching to drop it down a bit once the system has been run. It seems like the Tenere's cooling system does not trap any air as after a 46 mile ride and cool down the level is right at the full line.

This has been my experience on water cooled bikes. I just had to do the rad cap in my versys last few months. So did the whole flush. Ran it in the garage till hot, I think I saw maybe 5-10 tiny bubbles. Systems are just so small I guess, not much room to trap that air.

Today I added an Apache top case from Harbor Freight. It's just the right size for me- really similar to the Pelican I had on my old KLR, and it was extremely handy. The price was just right at less than $40. I don't know yet if will interfere with the side cases, but if it does, I'll just take it off when I use them.

I also installed a really great phone mount. This thing just seems to be of exception quality. Very clean looking and holds the phone snug.

Here a link for it on Amazon.

I have found that If you put a few blocks of wood between the tire beads to spread them apart overnight before mounting the tire getting the beads to seal is no longer an issue.

Had to perform an impromptu skidplatectomy in the parking lot at work this morning. Dropped my key as I was trying to remove it from the ignition. Clink, Clank, Rattle, Clunk and Bong! Did not hear that prayed for sound of it hitting the ground - dammit. Wish Yamaha had routed those throttle cables differently. Turns out it ended up inside the skid plate with no way to access it without removing the plate. Luckily I had the right tools aboard. What a PITA!

Today I work in tighting the spokes and found many loose and others very tight! it looks tha previous owner never check them.
I had found that 1 on each side of the wheel was a T30 torx and the rest 5mm hex, the very tight (2 of them) I was not able to turn them to loose and end up bathering the hex nut of the spoke, I try with an open 6mm on the other side and was not able to loose either, any recomendations? have someone seen this condition in the spokes?
Have a great week.
Miguel.

It's not the tool I carry (perhaps I should) but in the garage my telescopic magnet has saved me on a couple of occasions from having to drop the bash plate.

I don’t think the key is magnetic and I purposely don’t have any rings or fobs so as to avoid the rattling and scratching that might occur. I have a flexible magnetic retriever, works great for ferrous bolts and bits, but like you I keep it in my tool box at home.

Yes the location and operation of the key has also been one of my minor complaints that would be nice to see improved in the future.

I have a spare key zip tied on my bike as a precaution. It would be awful to be out in the middle of nowhere and lose a key.
Agree, I carry a spare key along with the insurance and registration papers.
In separate locations. In Canada we have three keys when you get a new tenere
Two black headed keys and one red headed key. The redhead always stays at home in a secure location. If a black key is lost or damaged, you need the redhead key to create and program a new key.
So if I went riding and lost both black headed keys, I could have a key(s) made ONLY as long as I have the redhead key.
Otherwise, the entire wiring system of the bike would have to be removed and replaced.
In the U.S. and perhaps elsewhere this differs.

I do carry a spare key in my Aerostich suit, so I would not have been stranded leaving the dropped one in the skid plate, but I would have had to have a replacement made if the key fell out riding it home. With my luck I would have found it imbedded in the brand new rear Anakee Adventure! As I'm leaving in a week for my trip to WeSTOC in Calgary, I don't really have time to mess with that hassle so was pretty motivated to retrieve it!

Bike just turned over 68K miles, so she got a well deserved oil change. Also a diff oil change. Checked the spokes, and all check out okay.
