I have a spare key zip tied on my bike as a precaution. It would be awful to be out in the middle of nowhere and lose a key.
Extra set in my jacket, and backup spare set at home.

I don’t think the key is magnetic and I purposely don’t have any rings or fobs so as to avoid the rattling and scratching that might occur. I have a flexible magnetic retriever, works great for ferrous bolts and bits, but like you I keep it in my tool box at home.
Correct, brass is not magnetic. Most keys are nickel plated brass.

Have you considered a soft tie on the key for a little something more to hang on to? A short piece of para-cord or leather perhaps? While I can appreciate your concern for scratching things up, a bit of grip tape or vinyl tank protection stuck on the triple tree will protect the area and allow you to use more than just a bare key.

Yes, we, the US, do not have the immobilizer. Our keys are all the same.
My S10 has a blinking light in the cluster and I understand is Inmobilizer, is that correct?
I do not know what design is the one apply to the unit sold in Mexico, is there any way I can find? Probably with the VIN number, does someone know?
Have a nice weekend.

The UK bikes also have a blinking light on the dash, a red light. (UK bikes have an immobiliser)

It flashes for 24 hours after you switch the key off.

Yes, pretty sure you then have the immobiliser.
There should also be a key with the bike, where the plastic is red, if so, then we are 100% sure.
(don't use the red key to start. Only used to make new key)

After fitting the Touratech screen bracket, I found it was impossible to tighten the screws enough to stop the screen sliding down at over 40 mph. Plus, needing a pair of plyers to undo them. Don in Lodi told me how he overcame the problem, but the star knobs he used, over here are about $8 each. I remembered I had an unopened packet of tap washers, they are very hard black rubber/plastic. I had to rout out the holes to go over the original M6 bolts. I then bought a packet of these star knobs, 10 for £7.95 about $11. Also, use the original washers. I can now literally from the front, grab the screen and bounce the bike on the centre stand, up and down. I have just done a 70+ mph ride and it now stays put. How a German engineering company thinks that metal to painted metal is going to grip under load, is beyond me.

Yes I do have a red key with a tab, I understand it is only to make a new key. To get a new operational key do I have to buy a specific key (needs to have a trasponder too?)
Thanks.
Good day!

I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide.
Finally added a volt meter. Something I like to have on bikes so I don't have to wonder how my battery is doing.
This style adds in a usb and usb C port along with it. Just took out the factory 12v cig plug and put this in its place. Factory wires are rather short. Had to do my stripping and crimping semi blind so I could keep the wires long enough to reuse the factory one at some point.

But still 10 min job that improves the functionality of the motorcycle is all good for me! I plan on wiring the 12v cig plug under the seat incase I need to run an air pump or something down the road.

WJBertrand,
Just curious to know what your opinion is so far regarding the Michelin Anakee Adventure?
Positive impressions so far, but only a couple hundred miles on them. They replaced a set of 705s and for me the steering/turn-in is much lighter and neutral feeling compared to the Shinkos. The interesting bit is I picked up a few MPGs compared to the 705s. Evidently the Michelins have a lower rolling resistance. Highway stability and in-corner stability is very good. Stay tuned for a mileage report, I’m headed to Calgary for WeSTOC Thursday.

I can ditto WJBs' positive comments on ride and handling. Apart from the Anakee 3 I have only had full road tyres on the S10. I wish I had had the Adventure fitted before my April ride down to Spain, but the PR5's where still good.

Fitted the wingletts to my 2010 S10, ordered from Slipscreen UK.
Took about two weeks to arrive in Australia, all rubber mounts/grommets supplied.

Rode to work (140km, round trip), seems to make a significant difference to the airflow over/around the original screen, have been going crazy trying to sort the airflow with an Arai XD4, the vibration coming from the peak (caused by the dirty air) was driving me crazy and making me deaf.
First accessory fitted to the screen was a Touratech bracket to adjust angle and now the wingletts, still a little noisy, but a whole lot better than it has been.

The winglets will certainly improve any up-draught turbulence, but you don't mention what ear protection you are using. Simple foam plugs will trim at least 30db off. Then experiment with the helmet vent settings & mirror position - every little helps & the trouble is we can all obsess; that's why I have got so many crap after-market screens up in my garage loft.

Using a few different foam type plugs....mirrors are adjusted for the rear view (not planning on changing that just for noise) ....will muck around with the Touratech bracket a little, but currently I'm happy with the way it is...could get carried away with different screens (but, like you it's probably pointless.)
Probably got a bit spoiled with the electric screen when I had my FJR1300A..
Different bike now, different noise now....and any way, the 2 degree celsius mornings, fog, rain and kangaroos will probably kill me way before I'm deaf.

Heavyweight, mines a Gen 1 bike, winglets and one of those clip on deflector thingys on the top of the screen worked for me. The thingy was only about £20 ($34) off eBay. Might be worth a try.

I can pretty much concur spot-on with the both of you regarding your impressions for the Mich AAs. I have put over 700 miles on my AAs since I had them installed in mid May but I have not really had too much experience with them off the pavement except for a few short scoots on some hard park dirt roads and rocky, gravelly trails which they were fine on. The howling in the curves has now kind of become a "hum" but whenever my S10 is the least bit off centerline they make their noise which at this point I have kind of gotten used to.
Did both of you Gents apply for the Michelin Off-Road tire rebate?
