Re: 2014 Non ES Factory Heated Grips

Ya I noticed that in the pics but I'm hoping that is only on the older models,
Can anyone confirm for sure that the 2014 kits only have the grips and a wire bracket as noted in a previous posting above ??
As you surmise, the pics on the Yamaha acc page use a single photo of the old kit (you can tell because it has the heat controller) for all the years/models, so it isn't accurate for the 2014-2015.
If you bring up the fiche for non-ES vs. the ES it certainly looks like the throttle grip housing (Yamaha calls it the Cap, Grip Upper and Cap, Grip Lower) looks different with the ES have the characteristic bulge where the heater wire is coiled internally. But strangely the part nos. are the same and you can't seem to order the lower one. So color me perplexed. On the 2012-2013 kits, they also have a new saddle clamp for bolting on the master cylinder which provides a boss to mount the rear view mirror. This allows the mirror to be relocated further aft where it doesn't foul the throttle cables which are in a slightly different position with the heated grips. I don't have any idea whether this is something they still have with the 2014-2015 kits.
The poster above seems reasonably certain of his info and the part nos support the idea that they now have a "universal" throttle housing which works on both heated and unheated. Still puzzled by the fiche pict differences though. If you can pull this off, it would save a lot of money.
