5000 year old?!?! Evidence of what? We have very similar "fossils" in the limestone even as far north of the coast as we are. Around here, we use limestone for decoration and roadbase. Limestone itself is evidence of being under water. . . . for a long time. Your fossils seem to be in completely different stone. And I get that continents rise/fall, but before there were ice caps, that water had to be somewhere.
It was mostly everywhere.

Fossils can be found in different rocks. But some rocks break apart easier so are easier to find. The Burgess Shale is in the Canadian Rockies 2286m high. That's A lot of upwards movement.

I think we're sayin' the same thing. The Rockies make sense. That being where everything got pushed up. But most of Texas is flat lands.

AF1 in Austin is a zero dealer . they are really looking like it could be great to own . but still very expensive for most of us. and then there is range. so mostly they are an around town bike ,a commuter bike etc. and there are a multitude of cheaper options to choose from. right there in the AF1 dealership .... vespa , piaggio, Moto Guzzi and apprilia .

That's disappointing you you think being Tectonic they would rise up including all the latest " Tech " oh well may be next time. I think us S10 owners will be making the Last Stand.

Getting away from this fascinating geological lesson. haha. I was in Rapid City a few years ago on my bike. I was coming up to a right turn lane and put the signal on. I checked the mirrors and there was a white car behind me. As I came to the turn lane I checked the mirror again still just the white car. Just as I started to lean a bit right and start into the turn lane a Zero bike came shooting past me. No sound and very little lights on it. I guess he was riding up the shoulder of the road. It was a tiny bike and made no sound at all. So much for loud pipes don't save lives! haha. Any way I can see a tangled mess of wrecks just from basically no sound being put out. not to mention the charging issues. I like the idea of electric for inner city commuting and short errands. right now it is a great thing being the cost of electric has not gone up to build a system that will meet the demand of charging electric vehicles. One thing to remember is for every action there is a equal and opposite reaction. that is our universe like it or not. If you use power electric or fossil fuel there will be pollution.

Am with you on the silence. In town they are a nightmare and they are so nippy they come out of nowhere. One undertook me on the inside turning left i guess they call it good riding.

Getting back on topic, we have a Zero dealer at the local air park & I’ve ridden them a few times. Totally aside from the range, they are too small for long distance for sure. Lots of fun on super twisty roads with the instant torque out of each corner and would be a great bike for commuting into a city IF the range works. I would’ve needed a plug at both ends so even that didn’t pan out, plus I could buy and burn through a number of cheap used bikes for the cost.

As for electric cars, I’m on my 2nd and it’s great for a number of reasons, but do still have a big Ford Transit van as a camper and utility vehicle.

They may well take off in China as a lot of their Cities are newly built and may have taken in the new technology design in their infrastructure

e-bikes are a HUGE thing in China where there are literally hundreds of manufacturers. Zero would be so overpriced they wouldn’t have a chance.

Our problem in the US now is not with EVs catching fire, unless an extreme event like Hurricane Ian floods them with saltwater. In fact the big Chinese EV car makers are putting out world quality products that anybody would be proud to own. Trot down to your Volvo dealer and test drive a Polestar, which is a Volvo body and Chinese drive train.

Our problem is with people realizing that the cheap Chinese e-bikes can make them a profit and the cheapest e-bikes having the absolute worst of the Chinese batteries. The number of battery fires in apartments in New York and other major cities has become a real issue and regular killer. You can get them on Amazon anywhere in the country.
