It would be an easy tag for people in places that have covered bridges. Sadly, those places get a lot of RAIN & SNOW, thus the covers on the bridges.
Fixed it. ;)

I may snag a bridge pic today, but would love to see someone get a covered bridge this weekend. We have lots of Forum members, bug your friends in areas that have covered bridges! Not to mention the tag game is more fun with more people playing. ::001::

If I do snag a bridge pic, I'll probably post it, but no new tag until Mon, hoping other people will still try for the covered bridge tag. Unless there is an overwhelming cry to move on to another tag?

Went out and rode for a few hours after lunch today. Got to ride the lower canyon in Zion N.P. Very nice, low 60's temps and not too much traffic. No covered bridges though.

I did score this historic steel bridge in Rockville, UT that crosses over the Virgin River. Constructed in 1924 for the National Park Service. Kinda cool, or at least I think so. If no one gets a covered bridge by Monday, I claim the tag with this one and will post a new tag then. Any covered bridge trumps my bridge.

Please speak up if you disagree! It's all good here. Just want to see things move along. ::001::

I'm officially jealous. Zion is awesome. The idea you can ride there in just a few hours seems fantastic.

Alrighty then.... It's time for me to get involved.

There is supposed to be a covered bridge about an hour from here. I've never seen it. The wife and I will be heading that way in the morning. As a back up, the bridge on I-155 west of Dyersburg TN that crosses the Mississippi ought to qualify as a "gigantic" one. It is a steel girder bridge with the overhead superstructure like yours Eric, only, it's green and a lot bigger!

I hope I find the covered one though.

It's s'posed to be raining cats and dogs tomorrow here, but if I can get a few hours in the clear I'll grab a covered that's fairly close.

We are very fortunate, in so many ways, but also because we live ~50 miles from Zion N.P. and are surrounded by wonderful, year round riding areas and several National Parks. Not to mention a day ride from places like Page, (Hover Dam), and Death Valley N.P., etc. 'The Park' for us is Zion, and we go often, but more this time of year when the crowds are low and the temps are great for riding.

@The Routund One - Glad to have you on board Dave! Go get that pic, I'd love to see either of them. ::008::

You to Don, Cali has a lot of very cool covered bridges. ::012::

Could be. The Sierras stop a lot of it, and we're South enough that we are in a bit of a rain shadow too, so we've just been getting some left over clouds from all that nastiness you have been seeing full force.

Well, the covered bridge does exist. It's in the Trimble TN city park. It was transplanted from somewhere else. You can't drive on it 'cause it doesn't go anywhere anymore. The town does have a Library/Museum but, it was closed along with everything else there. I'm surprised they left the sidewalks out!

The big bridge is on I-155 and crosses the Mississippi between TN and MO. The shot was taken about 1/2 mile away, on the bank of the river. You may notice that the bridge is not symmetrical. I don't know the real story behind that but I suspect either a barge clobbered it at one time or, more likely, it had two designers. The state line splits the bridge right at the peak where the design changes. Even the pilings are different. TN did the left and MO did the right sides as you're looking at it.

My wife and I had a blast today with a mix of interstate, 2 lane, gravel roads, and even a little rain mixed in. It was warm at 70 degrees though and worth every mile. :)

If these pass muster, reply back and I'll upload the new tag. Thanks for letting us play along.

I did some night tagging. So, I will let the group vote if this is good enough.

There is a raceway/dragstrip in my area that will be relocating in a few years. http://www.olddominionspeedway.com/

There is a little story to this tag. I met my bride for a nice juicy mushroom swiss burger at a place named Fosters, no relation to the down under oil beer. So we ate a good burger and I saw an excellent photo tag across the street. So I took the photo, and I knew that the raceway was just a short distance away. So off I went.

I stopped a the light and decided to take it easy (real hard to do in a 25mph zone). I'm glad I did, cause as soon as I turned the corner, a local police officer passed me. Hmm, ok, for once my sixth sense worked!

Now it was time for gas, as my "F" thingy on my gas guage was blinking and I had just filled the bike up yesterday. Saw a good place for gas, stopped and started filling up Bride pulls up next to me. "Your pump is leaking gas!". And sure as rain, it was leaking gas from the coupler that connects the hose to the nozzle. So I stopped filling it up, then checked it again, and finished filling up my S10. No more leaking, but we did notify the store and they closed the pump. Pulled out of the gas station the police had someone pulled over just down the road... I took it easy, and then pulled into the dark raceway.

My Bride followed me. While i was taking the picture, unknown to me, the police pulled up to my wife (this was the third one in like 5 minutes), and asked her what was up. She told them I was doing a man thing, playing tag with my motorcycle. He laughed at her and let me continue. So it was a shock to me when I turned around on the grass and saw the officer. I was sure, that I was going to get pulled over and questioned (I didn't know my wife had cleared me!). So I drove carefully and took the next left to get to the road home, and there was another police officer on the side of the road! That was forth on in less than 10 minutes in an area that wasn't heavily populated. My bride pulled up next to me at the next stop light and told me the story and that they were looking for a green car. I was a little nervous, but I also laughed about it.

So without further discussion, here is the race/dragstip:

And the place I thought would make a great seasonal tag is an ice skating rink. I would say for those in warm climates, a rollerskating rink would suffice.

Happy Tagging and may the authorities leave you alone! ;D
