You were going to trade for a Bmr anyhow, this was simply your excuse.

I don't make "excuses"(your words) for my actions and always accept full responsibility for the results. That's who I am. ::008::
I did it because I was smiling more when riding the BMW demo bikes the when riding my ST.

About the only thing you said that makes sense is ::021::. I was never into giving away hard earned money.

Did you spend money to buy protection for your bike, such as a skid plate?

Maintenance is part of owning a bike, I struggle to understand how trying to save 10 percent of a bikes value for rare maintenance makes more sense than spending another 40 percent to purchase a new ride to avoid spending less money.
I plan to trade the bike in anyway, so the cost of the 24k service will factor into this, to me, why pay for an expensive service if I don't plan to keep it that long, at least not long enough to recoup some of the cost of that service from usage? I do all the normal servicing, I've owned the bike for just over a year and 5k miles, changed oil and filter twice, FD, brake and clutch fluids, new pads on rear (organic, my choice) and plugs. Not to mention '14 basket. I did get a decent trade-in price back in May for a newer S10 but I wanted the ES, so thought I'd wait until next year. That's my motivation. And no, I don't have a skid plate, just OEM.

I was saying that I don't make "excuses"(your word) for my decision and I speak the truth about the things that motivate me. Hope that makes it clear to you.

I'm not into "giving away" my money either, but I don't mind paying for things that are legal and make me smile, happy, or gives me pleasure.

The cost of big smiles per miles....... priceless! ::008::

With all that said, my S10 is a keeper. Best bike I've ever owned. The only reason i would get a another bike is to get real cruise control. Right now, my throttle lock is good.
I could see getting a smaller more dirt oriented bike but it would not replace the Tenere.

Thanks guys,

I take great pride in doing the job correctly.. That tends to go against the grain in this day and age with others trying to do the work as fast as possible and hope its done correctly; and as cheaply as they can find. In performing technical engine work, I tend to always have many more hours in the job than what is charged. The time was called for and needed and that's what I did to make it right. Probably not the best business plan but again what was needed to do the job correctly..
We are located in Ft Worth Texas and have a real shop location. If you need any work done on any motorcycle. I never needed the latest or greatest of anything, for me it is about the journey. If it was not for my need for a two up bike I would still be riding the KLR, money in the bank and zero debt is a life of smiles ::008::

Nut'n wrong with that. We're all entitled to our own priorities and are free to make our choices. No rights or wrongs...... Just different. ::008::

Re: Yamaha master mechanics/Jaxon's approach....

As many of you know Jaxon has a very good reputation on this site. His approach to business is like a friend of mine. If it takes him seven hours to do something right but only charges for five hours of labor...who wins. Both parties. First, the work is done correctly and second, the person getting the work done is "very happy" and spreads the word that the work was done correctly and at a fair price. One's reputation is much more important, in the long run, than making every cent one can.
